  • Disneyland without a smartphone? Possible?

So I have a flip phone (that I don't use except for verification texts) and don't have/want a smartphone - or want to have "today" intrude on my escape to Walt Disney's Magic Kingdom.

Will reservations be possible at Disneyland.com online in advance with a printout to carry - or will I be required to have the scannable code on a device at the gate?

Will food, attractions, shopping be available without the intrusion of a cell phone? Or will I be left out of the park for the duration -- or perhaps forever?

Can you wait in line like normal or does it have to be virtual?

    Can you pay cash?

Does Disneyland com registration require leaving a credit card on reserve? Or is that optional?

You can still have the full experience at Disneyland without your phone. Disney knows there are people without/prefer to be without phones, so you can still do everything like purchasing tickets, printing tickets, paying, etc. It might be even better right now, since the parks don't have Fastpass so everyone is waiting in a regular line. Even with the Touch of Disney event, I purchased tickets online and printed out my tickets.

The only exception I could think of is possibly Rise of the Resistance boarding groups. I have not been on the attraction yet, so I'm not entirely sure how that whole process works.

Plus, what would Disney expect to happen if someone's phone were to deplete their battery while in the parks? City Hall would have a field day!

I have been concerned about this ever since they started doing the boarding groups for Rise of the Resistance. My family never gets "current" phones, we only get older models since they're way cheaper at the time of purchase. (My Iphone 6SE was only $250 when I got it a few years ago). While I know my phone could handle doing the app while at the park, and I can bring a portable charger, my brother's phone wouldn't be able to handle it, and neither would my parents' phones. I also just don't like the idea of having to scan my phone for everything. Personally I wish that DL could implement the magic bands for those who wish to use them. I really liked not having to get my phone out for every single thing in WDW, and especially not having to turn my brightness up to full just to get it to scan fastpass and photopass because that is a massive battery drain.

That's reassuring. Thanks for the info!

Can you register on the website without storing a credit card?

Can you pay for tickets online with Disney Gift Cards (supermarket type) or use them in the park?

YES!!!!! Every time I plan a trip I start getting gift cards, usually about 50-75 at a time. You can actually manage all your gift cards online too. So I'll get as many of the $5-10 as I can via movie rewards, plus from the grocery store, and the best part is that my preferred grocery store frequently has 3x or 4x fuel points on gift card purchases so I also end up getting way cheaper gas. Iirc, you can merge your gift cards into one with a cap of $500 per card. You can use that for admission (you at least also used to be able to get 1-3 day tickets at Disney Store), and any shopping and dining that is operated by Disney, even in Downtown Disney. I believe everything within the parks is fair game although I think some ODV carts can't take them, but some of the shops and restaurants in Downtown Disney won't take them due to being 3rd party companies leasing the space rather than being a Disney venue (Lego, Earl of Sandwich, etc)

For every smartphone experience I believe DLR has an analog one ( I believe they have to by law for ADA ) thought these often require more foot work and patience. I think they will likely always have an analog path but I can see them charging a premium for it and discounting the cost for things done digitally as it uses less materials and staff to accomplish. They can spin it as environmentally beneficial or something I am sure.
