Anyone know if the Indiana Jones pre-show video with Sallah is back to its usual length? I’m worried it’ll stay permanently abbreviated. (Maybe one day it can even return to the full-version from the 90s)

I immediately noticed it was chopped when I went in July. I asked the CM about it and they said that it had been shortened due to Covid but I still waited at least 5 cycles of the abbreviated version and it was so sad. Can't wait for the old version to return! -

That's too bad it was shortened. It is one of the most fun parts of the attraction in my opinion. I remember back when the ride turned twenty, Disneyland had an event at Big Thunder Ranch (rest in peace) where Tony Baxter showed deleted scenes from the preshow, which was really neat.

I'm sure someone probably complained somewhere and they shortened the video to be more focused on "safety". Like if you could really unbuckle yourself while the attraction is in motion and fall out.

The video with Sallah used to be longer and actually used John Rys-Davies voice. When they shortened it sometime in the first few years after opening they modified the dialogue and used a voice actor. They shortened the video when they reopened back when guests were limited in how much time they could spend indoors. Because you spent barely 30 seconds in that room, they cut the clip to just be the most essential of the safety spiel. But with that regulation now gone, they seem to have just not brought back the old clip. It wouldn't take tons of work to reupload the old one, but it's work nobody is willing to do.
When I went in August my brother and I counted how many time we would hear the spiel after entering the room. I think it came out to around 12 times, and yes it was absolutely annoying. I can only imagine the CMs suffering in that spot.Comment
