  • Carnation Cafe reservations!

    Hello Micechatter!
Long time no speak! Good to see this OG forum going strong! Its refreshing to communicated outside of the troll-filled Social Media! But anyways! Making my return to the Dland next week and I was wondering if anyone has had luck with making reservations at Carnations Cafe. I know they reopened today (9/16) but have not been able to make reservations for some reason. I've looked everywhere before asking the question here. Great chatting!

Hi! Unfortunately Disney released the Carnation reservations before the official opening and reservations for most places are being snatched up extremely fast. I booked a reservation last week for a Rez at Carnation in October and there were only a handful. Dinner seemed to be taken (it’s a more popular time for sit down dining)

It takes a lot of effort to get a dining reservation for most places in the park. Apparently they release around 3 in the morning and the hot spots (Blue Bayou, Oga’s, Carthay Circle, Cafe Orleans and probably Carnation now) are the hardest in my experience to get. The only way I was able to get some of these (without waking up in darkness) has been through luck/chance because someone cancelled.

Some people even paying to play. There is apparently a third party site that you can pay to let you know when cancelled reservations appear. I’m trying to wrap my ahead around it. Yes I play the game, but trying to pay for better chances feels a step too far.

Sadly, a Disney offered Lightening lane for dining does not seem so far off.

Awwww man this sucks! I checked everyday for the past 30 days and nothing! DLAND is making it really hard to stay a fan! Thats why so far I have said "NO" to Magic Key and "NO" to Merry Christmas Party.

I have been trying to book ANY dining reservations inside DL for Oct./Nov. for several weeks. -- No luck. I work nights, and I'm up and on the computer at 3am (PST) sharp. I have had zero luck securing any dining reservation lunch or dinner inside DL for a table for two.

I have a theory. --And to be clear this is just me thinking...But I'm wondering if they've stopped booked reservations for tables inside DL for Oct./Nov. so the "Genie" can "magically" come up with a dining reservation for you when the Genie+ system finally goes live. -- Just a thought. If anyone has actually been able to book a table inside DL for Oct./Nov. I'd love to know. I find it odd that I can't score a single table for two at any table service restaurant inside DL given that I'm up, logged in, and hitting search right at 3am every morning for several weeks with no luck at all.

^ It's totally rational for us to think that there must be some logical reasoning behind Disney's chronically screwed-up online systems. The sad reality is that it's the result of a bloated corporate bureaucracy that is even poorer at its own internal communication than it is at communicating with its customers.

"Disneyland is often called a magic kingdom because
it combines fantasy and history, adventure and learning,
together with every variety of recreation and fun,
                designed to appeal to everyone."

                - Walt Disney

"Disneyland is all about turning movies into rides."
                - Michael Eisner

                "It's very symbiotic."

I hate to give away a secret, but if all else fails, go to Napa Rose, and if they're full, ask for the lounge. They have like three small cocktail tables with comfy armchairs. I pulled the table over and had no trouble eating my meal.

On the subject of restaurant reservations, someone kindly communicated the following on Reddit about 24 hours ago:

"When I called because of an issue I was having, the cast member told me that most restaurants aren't opening reservations at 60 days - some open spots at 60, then as capacity changes closer to the day, open more. Others (especially those with limited indoor dining) aren't opening until 15-45 days prior and most are just releasing spots "randomly" as capacity changes. Our visit is next week and we started checking at 60 days out but didn't get any of our reservations until around 20-45 days out. We were able to snag reservations to Oga's, Carthay Circle Lounge, Lamplight Lounge, Napa Rose, Carnation Cafe, and Trader Sam's.

In short, keep checking, maybe sign up for some mouse dining alerts for a couple you really want, things are a bit different right now so I'm sure you'll snag some as you get closer! Good luck "

One goes to a Theme Park to have a good time.........have FUN
But at Disney Parks ........you got to play games.........
to be in the park -to have something to eat - very little transportation /or not at all ,depends were one park.

                        IMO- I don't get it............"WERE THE FUN"!
                        The Worth is not there.......
Does Disney really communicate , "With the Customers" ? ..

I booked a reservation for Carnation less than a month out from my desired visit date without trouble, if you go on a weekday you're more likely to find open reservation slots, it's the weekends that book up fastest.

Please check out my website too!

I was browsing the old thread here and wanted to revive this one. As for your question about Carnation Cafe, I'm not sure if they're taking reservations right now, but I've heard they're only accepting walk-ins. You might want to call and double-check though.
