I spent the last 4 days here and the breakdowns were constant. Knowing the Chapek era we’re in, I wouldn’t be surprised to discover they simply shut the rides down so the bare minimum staff can take their breaks.

My main concern at this point is safety !
No place ,is worth putting guests or CM's in harm way............

What I fear with so many cut backs, at the Disney Parks!
    IMO

Today has been pretty rough with breakdowns.

We were stuck on Pirates for 45 minutes. A lot of people were peeved because at 12 pm while we were still stuck those who wanted a chance at ROTR or WS were (audibly) frustrated (internet service is kinda bad once you’re “under”). Luckily mine was good enough to grab a VQ, but a lot of people on board in the boats in front and behind me wanted to march to City Hall once we struck shore.

After I walked to Indy to find out the ride was down. I then took a lunch break, and trekked to Space Mountain… which appeared to be down. I then walked to DCA and got to GOTG… down.

I could blame it on Mercury in Retrograde, maybe. I’m not upset because all the CMs I’ve spoken to have been super kind, and the guests have been chill (minus the POTC meltdown, but even then no one was nasty with any CMs when we disembarked). It’s been weird, but upon seeing all these people actively refurbing parts of the park, I don’t have it in me to point fingers.

EDIT: also my ticket is a gift, so that might be playing a role in my chill mood LOL

Disney might be reopening the ride just for the extended Veterans' Day weekend. They could close it down after the weekend. Disney has done this with the Matterhorn before.

This in turn makes us decide to stay away longer and longer from the parks. As much as people claim to hate crowds I find all the issues with cost cutting far bigger a problem and more of a deterrent to my family than crowds ever were.
Its a mixed bag, most everyone here lovesssss the Disneyland they grew up with. The Parks have ups and downs I think when DCA 2.0 was being finished up it was an AMAZING time to be at the parks, since then the parks have only got more crowded and found more ways to make money....yet can't pay CM's more, you ride less things because of long lines and are paying more when they can't even make older rides work after years.

*TDA has refurbishment dates only listed to exactly 6 weeks out. Dates of closing and reopening are not listed until 6 weeks to said date. Hence why we don't see reopening dates for awhile.

Though I think when I was writing that previous post, the specific breakdowns I had in mind were the lengthy ones occurring on Pirates of the Caribbean. I'm unsure as to why the ride is struggling so often, but I can only cough it up to the lower loads.

    Another Issue....(long many other's).....is Machine's
When the parks have been sitting for a year.....
Most of the Rides and attraction......is not going be up running ,the way they should be.
And Disney was in hurry to open up again.....(for the MONEY) !
and add cut back to the CM's.
    That more GUEST frustration

    IMO-Disney Parks open to fast........

I've actually taken a small step back and I can see Disney kind of racing around to try and fix these issues with refurbs scheduled for most of these rides (except Indiana... for now). But yeah. I heard the last couple of days have been pretty rough.

I think we shouldn't race to conclusions on Maintenance. The arguement of 'they had a year" to fix everything is a bit of an exaggeration. Disney did not know that it was going to take over a year to reopen DLR or when they were allow to. Lets not forget the company wound up resorting to a debt offering of $6 Billion for funds last year (and yes I know the company is not "poor", but a $6 Billion loan is still a lot of money).

It should be noted Disney did do refurb work during the closure. Frontierland's Bridge was widen. Haunted Mansion's facade was repaired. Pavement in the hub was repaired. Pirates was refurbed early in the closure. Snow White and King Arthur's carousel completed their work. Landscaping was done in the parks. And construction of Avengers Campus and MMRR was restarted after delays from the pandemic.

And TDA has continued with refurbishments after the parks have reopen, with Big Thunder Mountain currently getting 2 full months of refurbishment work done. This is a good sign in my opinion, as it shows that TDA knows that maintenance needs to bedone and not ignored. This is the complete opposite of the Pressler Era.

Has the company cut cost by prioritizing their workload (AKA why Splash Mountain's AAs haven't been fixed)?
Yes, but I rather they focused on matinence that needs to be fixed, over something that is just simply needs "cosmetic work" (like an out of order AA).

The Pressler Era was stained from the many injuries and deaths of guests/cast members. All from either lack of safety or deferred matinence. I do not want to return to that time. However, I wouldn't compare the current 'breakdowns' or 'bad show' to that same infamous era.

(Sorry for the long rambling post)
