Ooo ooo me me me. Maybe at some point in the last two years but definitely not now. So here's a question for you. Do you actually believe that the Magic key program was designed to do something besides help disney cram as many of the highest paying guests as they possible could into every square foot of that park?

    • I don’t know of anyone who has the luxury of booking, then cancelling. My cycle is booking—going—then booking right away. Our visits can’t come fast enough for us to book something even remotely close to our visit date. We’re going to the Park on Friday. Next available reservation after that will be a weekday in November. Weekends… that’s the true Dream, that isn’t coming true. Ain’t happening. We have a December Xmas vacation weekday booked, and I’m afraid to cancel that for a November weekday because when we finally get to go in November, the December date will be blocked. I hate this cycle I’m in.

My opinion is that the popularity of Disneyland is the reason. Management has no choice and the global pandemic both forced them to make changes and allowed them to make the change. #NewReality
Oh good lord. You don't think that 90 percent of these are changes Disney has wanted to make for years and were just waiting for the chance? If they had made just one or two of these changes three years ago people would have absolutely lost their minds. I find this "well you know, we really didn't want to make these changes but, well, you know, this whole Covid 19 thing has really tied our hands". BS to be an absolute obscenity. I remember the good old days when if something was sub-standard we would say things like "where do you think you are? Magic Mountain?" then we would all just laugh and laugh. This crap started a few years ago when they started jacking the prices of everything year after year all the while telling us "we know you're feeling ripped of but with all this over crowding it's really for your own good". As if it was someone else letting all those people in the park! Oh and by the way, GET OFF MY LAWN!!! 🤣🤣🤣

Disney has created its own PR disaster with the Magic Key program and as more guests learn that Magic Key capacity is an arbitrary number that Disney can adjust at any moment the situation will only get worse. Add in that crowds are seemingly back at pre-shutdown levels, the cap on Magic Key reservations appear to be completely useless to managing crowd levels and the overall park experience."

I AGREE with update.......and Disney has created its own PR disaster with the Magic Key program

AMAZING park experience went down the DRAIN

          • It is nice that they are becoming more active on social media. It is easier to find out about their next events. I have loved everything related to Disney since I was a child, and I practically visited every Disney Land in the world. I have an Instagram account about new Disney releases, so I always post new facts and news about Disney and its releases. It is hard to gain new followers running an Instagram account with such content, so in the beginning, I bought some followers from 1394TA so that I could have more feedback on my posts.

Disney never lets a crisis go to waste. They 100% used it to implement every money grab program they have ever come up with.

For those with a top tier key this is quite literally where the lawsuit came from... The MK site would indicate that there were "no reservations available, all booked up". But then you go to the regular Guest site and you could reserve and buy a standard ticket for the EXACT same day... That established that there are different quotas even if it is the same system and that the quotas serve as an artificial blackout date. If the concern was "park overcrowding" then the standard Guest wouldn't be able to buy a ticket. And that's really the reason it's kept legal standing, everything else was tossed out already.

People reported that more reservations seemed to open up as that lawsuit progressed. Maybe it was a flood of cancellations. Maybe park capacity was increased. Maybe staffing was increased. Maybe it was Disney adjusting the individual quotas... who knows... but a LOT of people were/are trapped in that reservation cycle. Anyone who bought it to reserve for an actual vacation was "royally screwed". I'm curious how "crowded" this summer will be.

                • Personally, I think Disney could have solved the lawsuit problem by simply making a rule that Magic Key holders can only book reservations seven days in advance. No quotas/buckets. Just give full price guests the opportunity to buy up tickets in advance, and then in the last seven days any unsold capacity gets opened up to everyone, including Magic Key Holders. That would have eliminated the different quotas issue, and it would have made it more obvious that Magic Keys were designed simply to be the budget option that fills unsold capacity, rather than the first class status that APs used to enjoy.

The AP program in itself was designed to fill in the gaps. It used sticker shock and block out dates to limit attendance. It was Disney's decision to go monthly payment that flooded it...

                        Your Right
                        IMO
Disney have to many "AP"now keys
(Most theme parks only have one or two.....)
again I felt monthly payment was another bad mistake......
and sure have been the Money Grab for Disney !

Not the least hard thing to bear when they go from us, these quiet friends , is that they carry away with them so many years of our own lives.

                          • I just hope the Next Ap's have a limit on how many days you can go....say the lowest pass in 12 days, next pass 16, next pass 24 and 30 for the best pass and even then im being generous

The Parks are a resort now and just aren't what they were...people are paying 150+ for tickets and don't see the need for Aps on busy days
                            Happy Halloween!!!

Am thinking that we may see a long time of multiday ticket sales with a slight discount for locals and no AP program until this is settled and out of the public eye for a long time. A case of a very few ruining it for the rest of the APs.

                                • I noticed that this thread is about a year old, but that doesn't mean we can't discuss it further. It seems like there was a turning tide on social media regarding Disney's Magic Key program at the time.
