Announced at D23: “World of Color” and “Fantasmic!” are returning to the Disneyland Resort next year, along with the “Main Street Electrical Parade,” which will return in time to celebrate its 50th anniversary.

A good start to Saturday, indeed! I hope they've used the downtown to tweak parts of Fantasmic, as not all the 2017 changes worked for me. Bringing back Peter Pan would be nice, especially sine it will be the 30th anniversary of Fantasmic.
As for the Electrical Parade, I've lost track of how many fake-out deaths it has had. I actually think the park's ready for a new nighttime parade, but regardless, I'm still looking forward to its return.“I think, therefore I am... confused.”

I'm wondering if the Electrical Parade or Magic Happens will go to DCA. With construction seemingly over with Avengers Campus (despite the Red Car Trolley still being MIA), and rumors that Paint The Night may be heading to WDW, one would think the park would be hosting another parade. Last time the park hosted one was back in 2018
(Paint The Night). I guess if they are desperate they could dredge up the Pixar Play Parade."...but life without cake is no life at all"

Let's not forget that both the Electrical Parade and Fantasmic are having big birthdays next year (50th & 30th respectively).

We thought we could hesr some of the musical queues, and when we were back in the parking structures, we swear we could see beams of light that would be coming from the towers flashing and swinging around where rivers of America would be."...but life without cake is no life at all"

If they are rehearsing now it could be up in December. They are not going to test and rehearse now and then wait months to actually start as they would have to test again. Usually they run the show soon after testing and rehearsals. Disney may get Fantasmic up in the next few weeks. Little christmas surprise.

This is very exciting, these shows are so excellent that they are almost essential to the Disney experience. In the Dateline posted they said "Early 2022" For both shows. I know a guy who works in the sound department, pretty high up, saying the team is aiming for a February return of Fantasmic. WoC early next year would be surprising. I was excepting that to be out till at least next summer with how technical that show is compared to every other show at Disneyland.

With this logic in mind, I do think MSEP might make its return to California Adventure to bridge WoC's return. Disneyland should already be stocked with fireworks + Fantasmic! in this scenario. This feels like a pretty good theory, but as always, I could be wrong and Disney might have a different plan in mind.

I grew up with the MSEP, but let’s be real: it’s old and played out, and it’s popularity seems to be driven by nostalgia, not contemporary awe.
Paint the Night is a far superior parade; yet, it’s sitting in the dustbin of Disney’s storage.
I theorize that Disney leans on the MSEP because it may be significantly cheaper to run and upkeep.
It just baffles my mind that prices keep going up, but the qualify of entertainment continues to decline, and instead of thinking how best to wow guest, the resort seeks to do the bare minimum and get away with it."Ladies and gentlemen, boys and girls, Disneyland proudly presents our spectacular festival pageant of nighttime magic and imagination in thousands of sparkling lights and electro-synthe-magnetic musical sounds. The Main Street Electrical Parade!"
