  • snacks you never tried

Mint Julep in New Orleans Square - I honestly can't remember if I actually had this once, or if someone in my group did and warned me. My impression is that they taste like mouthwash or super sugary sweet....if I did try it, it's been decades because I can't remember exactly what it was like. I just know that I wouldn't have one even if they were handing them out for free.

Maybe I'm remembering wrong or I was just a kid and my palate hadn't developed.

Technically, I've never had a mickey ears dipped in chocolate, vanilla ice cream on a stick (don't remember what people call them). It just doesn't seem worth the calories or the money when I can have something similar in any store, just not in that shape.

I don't think I've ever gotten a churro at Disneyland. It's just not something I can justify buying when I can get a cheaper one at Costco.

I had the mint julep exactly once and it was sickeningly sweet. To make up for the lack of bourbon, they just make a weird minty lemonade that's pure syrup. It's not good. (side note: when introducing booze to blue bayou, they missed out not making authentic mint juleps and instead going for the white trash of NOLA cocktails - the hurricane).

For me it's two of them. 1) the turkey leg and I have no intention of trying it - it just looks like a greasy, mess and the smell when walking buy the cart is just nauseating. 2) the pickle and I also have no intention of buying that - nothing like a warm pickle on a hot day LOL.

I won't eat a turkey leg. I must defend mint juleps. Yes, they area little sweet, but I find them really refreshing. Pair it with a bag of hot beignets and you have it made.

I'm fairly certain that I've had a mint julep, but it wasn't memorable.

Without some bourbon then what's the point?

It's actually a really good ice cream bar. The chocolate they use is pretty rich and the vanilla ice cream is very creamy. This isn't like a vanilla dipped cone at Dairy Queen. I recommend giving it a shot some time.

On the contrary, usually these things are frozen so solid that you have to let them thaw a bit before you can bite into them.

Over the years I have tried most of the snacks, I usually avoid the ice cream bars because heat and ice cream are not a great mix, for the longest time I never had tried a Disneyland Chimichanga and was honestly suspect if it would be any good but I finally tried one and have to say it was actually really good. We love the addition of the fruit stands as well nice change to the average Disney snack.
BGood! It's not just my motto its my name!

TIO PEPE FROM SMART AND FINAL. same exact churro as the Disneyparks.

I agree with Mickdaddy about those danged Chimi's, they are great. I also had the fruit cup from Galaxy grill for the first time on Sunday and it was worth the $$.

Eating a chimichanga from the hot foods stand in the Hub while sitting in front of the Castle is one of our favorite micro-traditions.

Beignets, any of the ice cream offered at the carts, turkey legs, corn dogs, and popcorn.
