have you ever had a "right place, right time" moment at Disney? a time where you just happened to be in line or on Main Street and something awesome happened.

On a perfect summer night in '84 or '85, got stuck for about 15 minutes on the Skyway to Fantasyland, right above the Electrical Parade. World's best 101.

it combines fantasy and history, adventure and learning,
together with every variety of recreation and fun,

Back in the 70's, we were on the Mine Train through Natures Wonderland, at night, when the train stopped in the Living Desert section. Suddenly, the fireworks started. We stayed there for half of the performance.Never underestimate the power of stupid people in large groups.

New Year's Eve 2012 I got on BTMM right before midnight, and with nobody in line rerides were allowed. Then the New Year's fireworks started. And since there was still no line we were able to ride until the fireworks stopped and people started hitting the ride lines again.
In 2014 I was on the Matterhorn at 9 PM when they shot off fireworks from the Castle for the WDW New Year. BTMM went down right before midnight that year, though (never knew if that was intentional or just a typical 101).

One afternoon, I got an ice cream cone on Main Street and walked out to the sidewalk just as The Lion King Parade was passing by. I miraculously found a spot to stand with a great view.
Another cool thing was when I happened to see Dick Van Dyke riding the DLRR, waving to the crowd below.

We had some out of town guests we took a few years back. We were making our way from DCA back to Disneyland in the early evening when one of our guests, Joyce, asked if we ever saw celebrities at the parks since we were there so often due to our passes. I told her no, I hadn’t. Then, right after we entered Disneyland, Joyce nudges me and points to a man walking up the train station steps. It was John Ratzenberger.

I've got several...
Was riding the Matterhorn at night and just as we made final splashdown, there was an enormous blue-white flash over Tomorrowland and the ride shut down. It was a blown transformer that cut power to the entire eastern half of the park. Emergency lights kicked on immediately so it didn't look like a blackout, but we had a nice wait until they got to our sled to evacuate us. I suppose on the one hand this one is more of a mishap, but the sheer drama of having the transformer go pop at the exact moment we hit the splashdown pool was certainly memorable and, dare I say it, cool.
We took a friend from Chicago once. She had never been before. We were getting oriented on Main Street when a plaid walked up and invited us to a free partial tour, because she was brand-new and still training. The best part was that no one else showed up, so our party, with our stark newbie friend, had her to ourselves for about an hour while she took us down Main Street and told us all the fun facts.
On a spring day in 2014, my sister and aunt and I rode the Mark Twain and a Cast Member walked up and invited us to the wheelhouse. Why? Because it was Easter, and we were three grown women wearing cardboard bunny ears from Big Thunder Ranch. That trip was fantastic overall; we got lots of personal attention due to our crayon-embellished ears.
This last one is my sister's rather than mine...she hit the park one evening after a day at D23 and got to ride the Jungle Cruise with Zachary Levi.Like this post? Read more like it at The Disneyland Dilettante!

I was at Disneyland the first day that Pirates did a soft opening after the refurb to add Captain Jack. I remember being in the area and seeing a cast member put out a 'dress rehearsal' sign in the queue, so I went and got in line. I wasn't a big fan of many of the changes, but liked getting to ride it so early.

Right when I was proposing to my girlfriend in the Court of Angels a band came walking down the stairs. When they saw what was happening they stopped and waited till I was done then played a song for us before continuingly on their way. She always thought I arranged the whole thing.

There are probably a bunch of little ones if I think about it, but one of my favorites happened at the Plaza Inn in January 2011. There weren't many people, and the characters were running amuck. Either Chip or Dale -- I think it was Dale, but I forget after this long -- stole Captain Hook's sword and was playing "keep away" with it. They ended up struggling for it right next to our table. It was hilarious. When we left, there was a big gathering of all the characters at the front so we could get a group shot with all of them. It was great.

So myself, my wife, brother and sister in law, and two closest friends dressed up in disney onesie's for a trip during the holidays a few years ago. We were walking in new Orleans square just as Fantasmic was about to start, and a CM saw us, thought we looked incredible, and gave us premium seating for the show. It was awesome.
We also got like 6 fastpasses from another cm in Cali Adventure that day.
Moral of the story, dress up in disney onesies lol

took daughter for a Disneyland visit many years agi...she wanted to stop at the Tangled meet and greet area next to the Pinocchio Village Haus Restaurant...naturally it was a long line, so I told daughter we should eat first...so we were sitting at our table, she was watching videos from the day's visit...I saw Repunzel walking in for her break, and she notice daughter watching videos on the camera, so Repunzel slowly walked up behind her and was watching the video along with daughter...after a few moments, Repunzel said something and daughter broke out a smile at who just spoken...Repunzel spent about half a minute with daughter then went in for her break...right place, right time...I am old. But still love Disneyland.
