2022 Anniversaries for the Disneyland Resort

With 2022 just beginning, there will be some notable anniversaries to the Disneyland Resort this year. Below is a reference list of significant anniversaries for 2022 (AKA anniversaries ending in 5s or 0s & 10+ years old). Major anniversaries will be in bold. I also added some former attraction anniversaries and events for nostalgia sake.

Most of this list is pleasant (COUGH Light Magic COUGH). But I believe all of Disneyland history should be examined and remembered. The good and the bad.

I apologize in advance if there are any omissions or errors to this list. Correct me on any mistakes.

I love this list!

The tenth anniversary of Cars Land/Buena Vista Street hits me the most. I vividly remember being a passholder while California Adventure was undergoing its big transformation: construction walls were everywhere, we had to enter the park through Condor Flats, and I would meticulously study the Cars Land model at Blue Sky Cellar to ramp up my excitement (the internet/YouTube didn't seem oversaturated with construction updates then). It was so special when it all opened in summer 2012. I've liked some of the additions given to California Adventure in the following decade (Grizzly Peak Airfield and added information in the Boudin Bakery Tour are certainly highlights), but being a Disneyland Resort fan in 2011-2012 had a distinct energy that I don't think has been recreated.

I'm glad to see Fantasmic thrive for 30 years, even though it took extended breaks in 2016-2017 and 2020-2022. The anticipation of the new dragon during 2009's Summer Nighttastic was a highlight, as was its 2017 reimagining (I love watching this show with first-timers just to see them jump when the cannon fires).

The evanescence of Main Street Electrical Parade has worn on me, but I commend it for doing what no other parade has done-make it to 50.

I remember those days. 2008-2012 were exciting days with a lot of construction photos and online speculating(like the Pillar of Mystery).

20th Anniversary of Flik's Fun Fair, with the attractions and water play areas...really hits the nostalgic button...starting off in DCA and walking directly to Flik's with daughter in her stroller...spending about 2 hours there and daughter enjoying every minute...

So sad that Bugs land didn't even last 20 years before they dozed it. So glad my kids got to enjoy it when they were younger. Most parents loved that land and it was truly a magical place for families with kids under 8. But Disney obviously doesn't care they can make more money selling Marvel merch than Bugs Life so guests enjoyment be damned they're not there to enjoy themselves they're there to spend, spend, spend!.

Thank you. Space Mountain was already listed, but I did not have Mission to Mars or Mine Train Thru Nature's Wonderland listed.

Both attractions were closed before I first
visited Disneyland in '97. Mission to Mars actually closed not long after I was born.
