  • working at Disneyland!

Hey! I'm planning on applying to work at Disneyland this summer (2008). I was wondering if anyone could let me know what to expect, both with the application process and if I am accepted for a job. Thanks!!

Most of the posters here don't work at Disneyland. However, there is a Break Room forum where we'd be happy to answer.

You will find that working at Disneyland would be great if it weren't for the jerky guests.

In a library...one would think the library would be the place to avoid such people.

            In other news...

What dept. are you applying for?

What do you mean my department? I was thinking about just doing the whole ushering guests at attractions thing. But it'd be awesome to be a character host or something like that. I'm not really sure what all the different positions are.

check out the Disney website, or hit up the job fair, or just hit up TDA, they will describe the positions available and explain the responsibilities involved.

some of the types of people who should be banned from the parks:
                  1) line cutters
                  2) rude guests
2a) those who dont believe in personal space(i.e. standing in line to get onto an attraction and  someone BEHIND YOU ABSOLUTELY WANTS THE SPACE YOU ARE STANDING IN!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! :rant
                  3) people who ask stupid questions like what time does the park(s) open and they ARE  STANDING RIGHT NEXT TO THE HOURS OF OPERATION SIGN(S) :bang:
                  4) people who when you ask them a simple to answer question like is this the line for (insert name of attraction here) they give you the impression that you are asking them to kick you in the nuts

You'd think, wouldn't you? But no, you still get people asking the stupidest things. Case in point: A man asks, while standing in the middle of the non-fiction section "Is there a non-fiction section?"

But, I'm pulling the thread off topic a bit here. Don't mind me. Keep up the Disneyland related chatter, I'll be good.

lol, this reminded me at our DD's graduation from the college program that one of the speakers said that guests usually ask, "What time does the 3:30 parade start?" UM, 4:15?

There are many things that Disney requires and wants you to do, there are so many they have a class on it as you get hired called "traditions." Since you are applying for the summer and you will be a new cast member you can expect some sucky hours, and no hardly a life outside of work.

the speaker should have replied "nope. the 3:30 parade starts at 12midnight" :lmao:

Sucky hours definitely does not imply that you will be getting massive amounts of hours. In fact, once the peak seasons are over, you will be lucky to pull 15 hours a week. Shifts will be 4 hours and lots of gso...you are pretty much guaranteed not to work mornings. It is really difficult for new hires to get hours, as there are so many seasoned cm's (ft and cr) that have senority hour-wise...but don't despair...the longer you're here, the more hours you will be able to get.
