  • Disneyland Dedication Speech

The best dedication speech I know of. I love it. It's special, and not "just" because it's about my favorite place on earth.

"To all who come to this happy place: Welcome. Disneyland is your land. Here age relives fond memories of the past...and here youth may savor the challenge and promise of the future. Disneyland is dedicated to the ideals, the dreams, and the hard facts that have created America...with the hope that it will be a source of joy and inspiration to all the world."

    - Walt Disney
Dedication of Disneyland, July 17, 1955
I would assume Walt wrote this speech himself as I've not heard other wise over the years.

    Does anyone know forsure?

"We believed in our idea - a family park where parents and children could have fun- together."

    -Walt Disney

I agree, it is a great speech.

I never get tired of hearing it.

And I'm glad (and surprised) that the nitpickers haven't ripped it to shreds (yet).

Disneyland has a great dedication speech, especially when you compare it to the Magic Kingdom's or DCA's dedication.

It is a great speech, of course. I have read similar, longer quotes from Walt Disney from before the park opened so I assume he must have written it himself.

Off topic: must you really bring this vitriol into every thread?
