  • Latest Disney Gallery / Dream Suite News

MasterGracey just barely gave me this bit of news:

All of the wrought iron railing on the stairways leading to the Disney Gallery Dream Suite has been removed. There are walls blocking the entrance of both stairways.

We are hoping that the handrails are just being replaced, but given the fact that the location is going to be restricted to just a handful of families over 2008, we kind of doubt it. But we'll see.

My thought: interesting that this is happening at the same time that the wheelchair elevator is being installed. I suppose if you lose your footing and fall, that elevator will come in handy after all! )

MG took some night pics (hopefully day pics tomorrow too), and I expect he will post them in this thread soon.

Thanks for the news! If he doesn't post in this thread then hopefully in the Dateline Disneyland update on Friday.

MG told me he isn't sure if he can include them this soon before Friday's Dateline. So, I'd check here first.

Do you have any idea how many times MG said "omg" before I finally weeded out this info from him?

If I have to buckle in for Heimlich's Chew Chew Train, surely they will NEED to add railings for the stairs leading up to the suite.

^ But will the stairs even be necessary anymore? Now that the lucky guests will no doubt be "whisked" up to the suite through some inside route?

Jambalaya Jazz and Queenie have lost another part of their "stage",
although that's minor, compared the idiocity of making this area exclusive.
I've haven't been this upset about Disneyland Destroying something
since The Country Bears were ripped out from their natural habitat.

I'd sure like to hear an HONEST opinion from Tony Baxter.

                    Excellent question...

Considering how the marketing team will stop at nothing to keep the YOAMD promotion out in the public eye, wouldn't it be in their best interest to make a "show" out of escorting this lucky family up the stairs and into their magical suite?

How annoying!!!!!!!!! I am still angry that Disney Gallery doesn't exist anymore and now...they may remove the R and W railing?? This just stinks.

Re: Latest Disney Gallery / Dream Suite News

I'm not for certain if the stairs are going, but it sure seems like it. I can't imagine any other reason why the hand rails would be gone - I don't believe that repainting them would require their removal.

The only other idea I can think of is that this could be to move in furniture, but that seems like a big liability for construction workers/movers that Disney probably wouldn't want to risk. Additionally, I don't see why BOTH stairways would need to have the railings moved for something like that.

As for Dream Suite Winners getting into the Dream Suite without the staircases - there's always the Royal Courtyard entrance - the suite's originally-planned entrance - between Pieces of Eight and Port Royal. It would make sense to use the Royal Courtyard as the main entrance anyway, considering the design and layout of Walt's Royal Suite.

As for the new elevator - that could always be the new main entrance as well.

I dunno.. But as of now, it looks like the stairs might be soon residing in Yesterland.

I'll post photos I took earlier this evening here later tonight. And hopefully I can get some proper day shots tomorrow for this Friday's Dateline Disneyland column. Stay tuned.
