  • Disney's World of Color At DCA Will Likely Include "The Spectrum Song"

    http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=http:...?v=DpuI4lGmyZI

The Spectum Song debuted in 1961 on the Wonderful World of Color in a segment called An Adventure In Color. Walt had the iconic Sherman Brothers. This wasn't just any episode. It was the NBC premier of the show, and the first time that audiences would hear the shows main title song - also composed by the Sherman's. The Spectrum Song was performed by none other than our beloved Ludwig Von Drake.

Odds are that boh tunes will be included in DCA's coming show, Disney's World of Color. Click above folr a colorful rendition of The Spectrum Song. Or if you prefer, here is the originally broadcast version - which includes a lengthy introducion by Von Drake.

And here are the lyrics - just in casr you want to sing along:

    The Spectrum Song

Red, purple, green, yellow, orange, red red
Red, yellow, green, red, blue blue blue
Red, purple, green, yellow, orange, red red

Red, yellow, green, red, blue blue blue
Red, purple, green, yellow, orange, red red

Blend them all and what do you get?
    Ceries, chartous, and aqua
Mauve, beige, and ultra marine, and every colour in between
Ing za ri ka fo zi brun brun

Colour has it's harmony and just as I have said
Red, yellow, green, red, blue, pink, grey
And white, and plaid and blue, green, white, yellow and toodinz 'n' and and and
right and and strips with blue and a black and Plaid and a....a

Above is the theme song to the Wonderful World of Color. Wow! I had completely forgotten how beautiful it was. "The world is a carousel of color."

                Ah, yes. The Spectrum Song. How many years has it been since I last saw this? (if we were voting, I would vote for the Ludwig original broadcast, that other one, was,well... x_X;

Both songs would fit in well with the show. If these songs are used, I think it will be interesting to see how many people in the crowds are singing along.

This show will be as gorgeous as Remember (Believe...In Holdiay Magic looks great, too).

And we know how well the Wonderful World of Color's title song would open a spectacular show.

Gosh.. Ludwig does have a most endearing personality - both knowledgable, warm and humorous. Few toon characters with that much demension.

Great insights, Koutesu. I would hope that the lyrics would be on one of the scripts to help facilitate audience participation in each of the sngs. That would definitely be different - and fun -and warm.

It bears mentioning, Ludwig Von Drake was originally voiced by Paul Frees (narrator in both the Haunted Mansion and Adventure Thru Inner Space, as well many other voices around Disneyland), and is now voiced by Corey Burton (the pirate with map and key in Pirates, the narrator for Haunted Mansion Holiday, the tram spiel, ect.)

Paul Frees was also the orginal voice of "Pop 'N Fresh" the Pilsbury mascot.

He also did the opening narriation to the original "Manchurian Candidate", as we'll as one of my personal favorites the "Burgermeister Meisterbuger" from the Rankin Bass TV special "Santa Claus is Coming to Town"

Oh I almost forgot, he was the voice of 'Boris' on the old Bullwinkle Show

Each of those character voiceovers was completely different than the others. Quite an amazing talent. You might say that he was "pop .n fresh". hee hee

These videos just got me really excited for the World of Color. They can include all of these songs, plus maybe "the Green with Envy Blues". But I still wish they'd call the show the Wonderful World of Color. It sounds so much better than just World of Color.
