  • Cast Auditions and Braces

I'm going to the face character audition with my friend next saturday at Disneyland
I was wondering, since i have braces, if i'll look stupid for just going haha...i'm pretty sure I won't make it through the first cut because of them (even though they are coming off pretty soon I think) :/

has anyone ever attended an audition and seen anyone with braces there before?

    thanks for ur time

Interesting question, and welcome to Micechat! I don't know the answer, but I can see perfect sense in either answer.

I would go anyway. I'm not speaking from firsthand experience here, haha, but it's definitely worth a shot. Even if you're turned down, you'll have a better idea of what to expect for next time.

And going with a friend is always a plus.

Welcome to Micechat. If you have braces on at the audition I think this may go against you, but don't let this hold you back as you never know what they are looking for and you will have the experience. I suggest waiting for the braces to come off and go to an audition then. Auditions are happening more often now so I'm sure something will come up in the next few months.

You should audition to get an idea of what the process is, but don't expect too much that first time. When the braces come off, then you can go back and try again.

Are you a total #10 knockout? Then you could go, but otherwise don't embaress yourself.

I would go if you are looking for experience. Just how much will you get? Not much. Unfortunately Disney is extremely typecast and none of their characters have braces. Even if you say "I get them off tomorrow" they won't look at you any different.

Although I agree that braces will get you cut, I think it would be good to go for experience. The people I know who got their ideal roles had to go multiple times before they were really noticed. I went through a parade audition and, although I made it all the way through and was cut for scheduling purposes (:rant it is still nice to have the experience in the event that I reaudition.

You're better off going and knowing what (at least part of) the audition is like, than not going at all. But yes, you will almost certainly be cut.

Unusually and exceedingly peculiar and altogether quite impossible to describe...

If they like you, they may ask you to audition for non-face characters. Still, you have a chance.

With braces you will not get far. You'll walk into the room in a line, stand for a few seconds and walk out. I agree with auditioning for fur until you have the braces completely off and don't need to wear a retainer or head gear for multiple hours a day.

I think were are supposed to encourage people here on Micechat. This post dosn't encourage, but gives the impression that if you are not a 10 you will embaress yourself. I remember reading when you were let down by not getting into Pixar Play, we all learn and we all experience let downs. Not going because of fear gets you nowhere.
