  • Things in Disneyland that make you tear up.

I was watching the Remember fireworks show with The Dark Lady and her family last night. When they started playing Walt's opening day speech I just looked down and smiled, mouthing every word and my eyes got a little wet. I tried to hide it of course. Whenever I thought back to hearing it like that, it started all over again. I think that speech was one of the major influences on me wanting to work for Disney and not to mention it was the opening day speech for the park that I call home by the man who created it.

So, what makes you tear up? Is it whenever you look back at DCA and are sad that the parking lot is gone? The last performance of Block Party Bash? What?

Every time I walk past Snow White's wishing well I get choked up. It is where I proposed to my wife back in 2004. :gladsad:

About several hundred different tiny things make me tear up inside the park, but the one that strikes the closest chord with me is whenever I see the Blue Fairy in Parade of Dreams. I dunno what it is about the Blue Fairy that gets that particular response from me, considering how I saw her as a small child (which I can't mention here because this is a family-friendly board). But whenever I see her running around with all the other fairies in the parade, I almost always scream involuntarily, "OMG IT'S THE BLUE FAIRY!!!" I love that Blue Fairy. She's the best effin' fairy ever.

Other than that, there's the Pocahontas sequence inside the Animation Building. I love it so much, I have to tear up in joy every time I see/hear it.

Do you mean besides the prices? Or DCA or Tomorrowland?

        Sorry, couldn't resist.
God, grant me the serenity to accept the things I cannot change, the courage to change the things I can, and the wisdom to know the difference.

          Most embarrasing thread ever:

I've been living in depression for 8 years now. There are many Disneyland things that start to make me choke up, but I think some of those are because of the dark side of emotions I must control.

The things that are truly me, are going through the train tunnel, coming out onto Main St, and seeing Sleeping Beauty Castle at the opposite end on the very first visit because by that time, it's been almost an entire year since I was last at Disneyland. It feels like I've returned from a year long battle.

Another thing is Fantasmic, especially the finale.

              So many things...

-The plaques over the entrance tunnels
-Hearing Uncle Walt's opening day speech
              -Christmas snow on Main St.
-Standing in the "compass" set into the sidewalk in front of the castle and reading the words, "When you wish upon a star, your dreams come true."
              -The steam trains in general
-Uncle Walt's lamp in his apartment window above the Main St. fire dept.
-That first sighting of the top of the Matterhorn when arriving at the park.
-(for now at least) Seeing the submarines open again after all these years.
-Riding Space Mountain. (Yeah, I know... but somehow it just does.)

Crap, I sound like I'm just a bundle of mucus while I weep my day away at the park!
              :shy:
"Yesterday, a man walked up to me and said, 'Isn't it a shame that Walt Disney couldn't be here to see this?' and I said, "He did see this, that's why it's here."

Everytime I walk down mainstreet for the first time of the day.

And everytime my daughters face lights up with awe and wonder when she sees something that makes the magic real.

The first time she saw Mickey Mouse I was sniffling for quite awhile, my husband thought I'd gone crazy.

I haven't yet. I'm not emotionally attached to Disneyland since I've only been once.

I get that! It also makes spinach dip in a bread bowl.

                          Not that I don't have a reply:

Peter Pan in Fantasmic! Gets me everytime.

The 50th Firework show....never has anything made me tear up before...and I couldn't believe it.

Walking through Disneyland Hotel - near the former Bonita tower....where the Water Show used to be.....deep sentiments for me. My Grandparents used to take us to Disneyland Hotel at night to walk around......get snacks...during the summertime......I miss my Grandparents......sweet people.
