    Re: Maynard help

He used to be at HM, Tiki, and Jungle. Now he just does Fantasmic GC and the 50th exhibit on Main Street.

Unusually and exceedingly peculiar and altogether quite impossible to describe...

Is that by his choice or have they pushed him aside?

Yeah, I was gonna ask this same question, why is Manyard so popular with Disneyland guests?

Landlocking started it. Then they limited the spieling at Jungle Cruise so he could no longer get all creative with them.

People romanticize him, like other parts of DLR.
Well, light travels from the sun. Then, bounces off of our planet, and back into our eyes so we can perceive color. My body can intercept that light and dance around on it!

                  Re: Maynard help

He works at the 50th. He used to do Haunted Mansion, Jungle, Bears, Tiki, and still works GC nowadays. He's been at Disneyland for over 8-9 years now I think. I met him in 1997 working on Mansion. Been friends with him for several years now. :squeeze: He even came to my wedding in 2000.

He used to give a "little extras" in his spiels, doing hammy voices and making people laugh as they went thru the attractions, and he loved interacting with the guests, trying to make them laugh and lighten up. Apparently people think he's gone a "bit to far," so he asked for a low key attraction to work next. He's not sure how much longer he will work for Disneyland. Maybe the magic has worn off? Last time I spoke with him, a few weeks ago, he sounded really depressed over the whole thing, management policies and all. :judge: But hey, its a living I guess.

Yeah, there's nothing sadder than a disenchanted Maynard. And he's such a nice guy, too!

Upanova: any word on him getting more voiceover stuff? I keep hoping Pixar would pick him up.

No word yet on the voice overs. He's told me he's getting into his Internet site and there probably will be some cool new stuff coming up on there:

I think that's it. Hubby and I saw him at the 50th Tuesday before last but we only got to say a quick hello and then on with Steven Martin!

                        Re: Maynard help

I've only seen him once, but he really adds something special to the parks when he gets to be a "character".

I had just gotten on my doombuggy and started going up the stairs, and I see him standing where CMs are supposed to check to make sure you are safely seated. He just had that dead/creepy sort of look, staring out. It was great

It's a shame he's not doing Mansion anymore. I wish I had seen him doing the Tiki Room.

                          Re: Maynard help

I saw him out of the corner of my eye when I was tromping through the park to meet a friend. I pulled him aside and we had a great little chat. He did the entire voiceover for a commercial he did, complete with caveman grunts and high-pitched pixie voices (if anyone knows the name of this commercial he did, please tell me). It makes me sad that he has become land-locked within Main Street, as Cast Members with a true love for their job are hard to find sometimes.

I believe it was for Menehune Water, a bottled water brand in Hawaii.
