  • Huffing and Puffing (Training for Disneyland Vacation)

Ok folks, I am planning to go either in Oct or aftr Thanksgiving, but I need your help. Being that I am a fat tub of goo and sit on my you-know-what 7 hours a days( on my break, I actually go out for a walk) I would like to know how many miles a person walk in the either or both parks in a day. Right now I am in "training" and so far can walk 3 miles before the feet start barking at me. Can anyone give me an estimate of how much you walked after a full day at Disneyland?:beg:

I actually wore a pedometer once and I was just short of 4 miles, but it was a day that I didn't do too much walking, so I'm guessing be prepared for 4-6 miles.

I've also done that for the SD zoo and Seaworld, and I average 3 miles.

I wore a pedometer and we walked about 8 miles one day and I think 6 or 7 miles the next day.

With the 2fer going though, you can just stand still and be carried away by the crowd!

In all seriousness though, it really depends on what you want to do on your visit. Do you want to take it easy and leisurely walk around the park, or are you trying to do as many rides as possible in one day?

I'm not sure how true that is. We are never concerned with doing as many rides as possible and we still walk a lot in the parks. many times we only go on about 4 rides.

I've worn a pedometer at the parks before and have clocked anywhere between four and twelve miles in a day, but we like to walk a lot.

You've got eight or nine months to "train", so why not work up to at least eight miles in a day? It would be good for you, too!

Are you going for multiple days? Back-to-back walking days can be tough, so you'd have to train for that, too. Be sure to bring TWO pairs of comfortable walking shoes so you can alternate them.

Good luck and good for you!

When I am with my kids its usually around 3 miles (with a stroller I plan a lot and don;t zig zag around the park). Without my kids its another story, where I am not olny from one side of the park to another but back and forth to DCA. On those rtios we are probably around 6 miles.

              A little piece of heaven

Training at all is going to be a good thing for you! Keep it up!

I don't train. I just embrace the pain as part of the experience--in fact, when my feet are tired from too much walking under any circumstances, I tend to think of Disneyland.

keep in mind that when you walk @ Disneyland it's not going to be constant walking like a 3-miler at home. You're going to walk, ride, walk, shop, walk, ride. That will push the distance you are able to go.....

That being said.. keep training.. you're doing yourself a huge favor!

for some reason after a lot of walking my calves hurt. maybe it's the slight inclines around the park. My feet are usually fine.

When I first saw the title of this topic I though Big Bad Wolf & the 3 little pigs were coming out to Disneyland again.

You won't notice your feet hurt until you get home. So, 3 miles or 26 miles, it doesn't matter, you can't feel pain in DL.
