In all seriousness, I love the idea of a new TRON. However, I honestly don't know how well it will do. If it does well, maybe they can have a 3D movie in Tomorrowland or something. I would love to see a Light Cycle ride though.
I guess the theming is more appropriate than anything in TL recently, and I did think the Tron part on PM was cool for its time, but I really always thought the original movie was pretty lame. So, overall I wouldn't be completely opposed to something Tron coming to TL, but I'd also like to take the wait and see approach on this one...Hopefully Disney will do the same.
The Mickey audience is not made up of people; it has no racial, national, political, religious or social differences or affiliations; the Mickey audience is made up of parts of people, of that deathless, precious, ageless, absolutely primitive remnant of something in every world-wracked human being which makes us play with children’s toys and laugh without self-consciousness at silly things, and sing in bathtubs, and dream and believe that our babies are uniquely beautiful. You know…the Mickey in us.
I grew up during the TRON era and I can't even remember much about it. I think people were quite interested in something like the "Transformers" movie because it proved to have longevity over the years. Ressurecting that frachise made a lot of sense. TRON, on the other hand, wasn't something that really had a long-lasting impact.
I just can't see DL investing a lot of cash and time into something like TRON unless it proves to be a success at the box office in this day and age. Personally, I'm not sure that it does. Do kids today even know anything about TRON? Every new Disney attraction is usually created with them in mind. So if they don't know it, it ain't happening.
