Disney debuts Pixar Play Parade on March 14

Concept art of the Pixar Play Parade debuting at Disney’s California Adventure on March 14 shows a series of floats and performers that squirt water and blow bubbles into the audience.

The new parade, replacing the underwhelming Block Party Bash, stars Pixar movie characters from “Toy Story,” “The Incredibles,” “Monsters Inc.,” “A Bug’s Life,” “Finding Nemo,” “Cars” and “Ratatouille.”

An “Incredibles” float features an Omnidroid robot with villain Syndrome at the helm and a flaming baby Jack-Jack atop the ominous automaton. Mr. Incredible, Elastigirl and Frozone fly personal hovercrafts alongside the floats.

http://www.latimes.com/media/photo/2008-03/36348079.jpg Wet zones along the parade route promise “interactive surprises.” Buzz Lightyear flies a rocket ship with a water laser in the front and water vapor exhaust in the back. Mr. Potatohead’s flower lapel squirts unsuspecting parade watchers. And Nemo and Dory puppets blow bubbles as if they’re under water.

Check out MiceAge’s Dateline Disney column for a promotional video on the parade and Blue Sky Disney for additional concept art.

why was it neccsary to write this: " The new parade, replacing the underwhelming Block Party Bash"
I didn't think BPB was all that bad. I think given DCA's track record people impulsively dis anything associated with it. But thats just me.

Ouch! They slammed Block Party Bash as "underwhelming." And now its at Disney World, go figure (hehe).

I personally think it is necessary to create a new parade every 3 or 4 years. They grow terribly overplayed after a while. I guess we can leave the Electrical Parade as an exception in this category, however.
