  • Where Are They?

Where are the atricualted characters for Disneyland? It's has been over a year since they made their debut at the Magic Kingdom and still we don't have any. I know we don't have any shows like Dream Along with Mickey but I think they would enchance Fantasmic! and the Parade of Dreams.

          Re: Where Are They?

I think the articulated heads are very cute and really enhance the magical quality of the shows - the characters really do seem much more alive.

The chief reason why I think DLR hasn't seen them is that it really doesn't have a show that could take full advantage of them at the moment. Fantasmic! has very few spoken lines for Mickey, not to mention the distance the show is staged from the audience - it really wouldn't enhance the show to add an articulated head for Mickey, and the other fur characters are only seen briefly.

For POD, same problem - because the characters can only speak in time to a pre-recorded soundtrack, there would have to be a lot of talking to justify the heads, and there just isn't.

Also, the eyes open, smiling face is better for photos, I'd imagine - as far as the parade is concerned, anyway.

I would love to see Disneyland have a new show starring the fab five that could take advantage of the articulated heads. Maybe it could replace PFF? Please...?

Those things creep me out to no end... WDW can keep those weird unnatural things...

For the 'Dream Along with Mickey' show at WDW, they've added 'talking' heads - essentially, the eyes can blink and the mouths can open and close. They're controlled live by the character CMs.

I LOVE them, and welcome them to DLR with open arms! They're so cute, and it just makes them seem so much more alive.

On a side note, however, the Old Hag, in Fatasmic!, has a moving mouth... (I believe)

I want them here, especially for the parade when they talk.
