  • where bad dreams come true

Disneyland has had a series of constant ride break downs today. We've waited in line for six ride and four of the have broken down. This is insane! Of all the times I have been here it's never been this bad. What the heck happened. Where are the mechanics in this place.

This entire day we've only been able to ride two rides, Pirates and the Maliboomer. Monsters, cal scream'n, thunder, and the matterhorn horn have shut down on us. We've waited at least 45 minutes on average for each ride.

Aww, that's too bad. Perhaps an extreme thread title, but I know it's no fun to have rides go 101, especially when you've already been waiting a long time for them. Don't be so quick to be angry at the mechanics, though. Disneyland's a complicated place, and there's a lot to take care of.

this reminds me of one day when there was a mild thunderstorm. most of the rides went 101 for a few hours then went back up. the funny thing was it was my first day of training and my boss blamed it on me. The best part was when a lightning bolt struck the Tomorrowland sign.

They have some crack mechanics there. One starting talking to me at the bus stop on my vacation, he must have been 42 or something, and I'm 25, raised in Maui... a nice girl, and he asked if he could come ot my hotel only becuase I was talking friendly about my vacation to him. Ewwww! what a sicko.

Seems like when it gets really busy more rides goes down seemingly at the same time. A possible reason (of potentially many) is they are running everything a capacity and it's easier for them break down whether it be a guest being too slow to get in or out of a vehicle or just sensors getting tripped.

Welcome to life. Each ride you have listed is capable of what is known as a station backup/cascade. If the cars back up to the point where they would be stopping in the ride itself, the ride computers at those attractions will stop ALL motion. Now, at Space Mountain, it takes all of 10 to 15 mins for them to recover. You just stand in the line still. The other attractions, Im not so sure about. Due to the bigger trains at Screamin and Thunder, they may need to walk all guests out before restoring motion to the attraction. And the Matterhorn most likely needs to be walked out before they can put people back on it. As for monsters... I cant even begin to guess at that one.

Better luck next time. Maybe today was just one of those days.

Re: where bad dreams come true

Thunder takes about 1 hour to reset and that is assuming that no trains are stuck in odd places.

It always seems like rides break down more when it is crowded because they are running the maximum number of vehicles and people just seem to be dumber. More people seem to do stupid things on rides during spring break and summer such as standing up on the ride. As soon as someone does this it breaks down the ride for at least an hour.

Yeah I'm pretty sure with the high volume with crowds, attractions are very likely to cascade and since BTMRR, Matterhorn and Space does it with even minimal crowds, I can't even believe how they manage.
