Does anyone know what's to become of the Motor Boat Cruise area?

    It's such a prime spot.

Nobody knows. I personally thought it was the ideal spot to put a little mermaid attraction, but I guess not.

I would have agreed with that, except that then they would have to have TLM swim over into Nemo.

In fact, they could have just combined the two rides into one big "Nemo and Little Mermaid Adventure".

When i was six years old i drew up a plan for the submarines to turn into a Little Mermaid Ride....would have been neat actually. Are you talking about the old Gummy Glen/Phantom Boats area? Seriously that area needs help! I was thinking they should take out Autopia and build a junior version of it in this location? Either way, it needs something!

Definitely needs something, but due to its relatively small size, the inherent difficulty of building in such a complex area, and the amount of money being justly invested in DCA, I doubt anything'll be done there for some time. Just for the sake of comparison, that area is somewhat smaller than the area used by the subs (including the show building), though it could be used to house an attraction slightly smaller than the Haunted Mansion.

i think part of it became Fantasia Gardens,if I am thinking of the right location.

I really wish something really good would come to the former Motor Boat Cruise area, but first we must deal with Tomorrowland.

i remember when they were gonna put a playground there but instead put it where goofy's bounce house currently lies so they could make something on a grander scale, i wonder what happened.

                  Re: Motor Boat Cruise land

This area is in the limbo space between Tomorrowland and Fantasyland and sort of fit in with the Matterhorn which is also in limbo but if I had to choose I would say the Matterhorn should belong in Fantasyland of the two.

I cannot believe the suggestions of the subs being tied into little mermaid nemo is bad enough but that would be impossible violation of the themed lands.

I think that the whole area occupied by autopia and motor boat area should be turned into a town of the future with houses building etc maybe slightley scaled with a very strong green environmental angle i.e. solar panels on the roofs etc.... the Autopias should be made into electric cars and the motor boats can also be futuristic electric boats then put in a new people mover like ride and you have a whole community of tomorrow, where you can ride an electric car thru it while monorails and some kind of people mover moves overhead the then new motor boats would be a nice leisurely cruise thru this same town of tomorrow and would be especially relaxing at night with all the houses light up etc

it was always a slow leisurely ride and thats as it should be there should be rides like that for eveyone to enjoy and take a break not everything has to be a super fast gyro gut twisting nausea ride.

                    Re: Motor Boat Cruise land

Most of the area has been filled in with land after Submarine Voyage was being worked on. And the part of it that used to be the loading/unloading is now Fantasia Gardens (across from Matterhorn). I have the area in my mind still after getting close up views of it a week ago. I looked at it from Autopia, the Monorail, and the DL Railroad.

I also had an idea for the area before the DCA plan. First I thought of just bringing back the Motor Boat Cruise (with new layout and lake). Then I thought of a Little Mermaid attraction (which would not exist due to the DCA Voyage of the Little Mermaid). This ride (two separate tracks) would have gone through a show building w/audioanimitronics, outside under the Autopia (with the cars and track concealed as much as possible to keep the Little Mermaid feel), and as in Jungle Cruise, to see the "backside of water."

But now I've changed the idea back, after DCA expansion and my new knowledge of the Submarine Voyage show building area, to the motor boat cruise, now with the waterfalls, fountains, nature, etc.

                    That was a mouthfull!!
Long story short, they need to put something there!

Nah, this area is firmly in Fantasyland. I believe the motor boats were technically a Tomorrowland attraction, but there's absolutely no reason to call this area part of Tomorrowland today. It's located north of the Matterhorn (which is indeed a Fantasyland attraction!), and the nearest attraction to it is the submarine voyage, which is only barely in Tomorrowland to begin with.

it was always a slow leisurely ride and thats as it should be there should be rides like that for eveyone to enjoy and take a break not everything has to be a super fast gyro gut twisting nausea ride.
That's indeed the idea of Disneyland--moderation. I personally haven't seen any "super fast" attractions in the park, just a few tame coasters surrounded by attractions that are entirely theme-based and offer no physiological thrills whatsoever. (Don't get me wrong--I don't mean "tame" in a negative way whatsoever. I love all of Disneyland's coasters. )

                          Re: Motor Boat Cruise land

Actually the motor boats were part of fantasyland and they were next to the fantasy land autopia/as it was split into two sides...one fantasyland and one tomorrowland...
I am homesick for a lot of the old rides...skyway...and motor boats included among others...
lol I think that is a sign of getting old!!!
Any day at Disneyland is a Happy Day!!!! :ap:
