  • Space Mountain - Lights On

One thing that I've always wanted to see at the Disneyland Resort was the inside of Space Mountain with the lights on. I mean the ride actually stopping, the lights going on, and a cast member coming to push your rocket down the track.
Now, I don't mean pictures, because i've seen pics. I want the experience and last week I got ... well almost got the experience.

We had fastpasses for Space Mountain, but I wanted to take a rest (bad move) at Tommorowland Terrace. No we didn't eat, we sat there!
Then I get in line for Space Mountain, we get all the way to the front and the lights go on. the ride had been stopped and the mountain was lit.

If only i didn't want to rest, then i could have gotten my wish.
But I would like to see, even though I said earlier that i didn't want pics, if anyone has detailed pics or ones that show a lot of the track. Anyways I know some of you probably think its nothing special in the mountain, but i just really am fascinated by ride layouts.

Before I "left" Disney, I got a chance to be invited to ride Space Mountain with the lights on and everything off from the beginning to end,

Several years ago they had special AP nights at Disneyland. It was a separate ticket event, but among the things you could do that night was to walk through the "new" Roger Rabbit Cartoon Spin, (which I did) and ride Space Mountain with the lights on (which I didn't do because I didn't want to wait in line that long!). Boy, I wish I could go back in time and just wait in the dang line!

Space Mountain probably looks the most like a roller coaster out of all the coasters at the resort, even more so than Screamin'.

March 30th while we were at the park while we were at the parks the ride broke down. My friends and I were thrilled (to the point of cheering after our rocket stopped and the lights came on)
          I dunno.
Some people say it kills the magic,
          I thought it was facinating.

It's not the same thing, but my friend Disneyphenom put together a podcast w/ the breakdown (it's toward the end of the video). You should check it out

people always enjoy it when we push them in rarely do people complain they got stuck on space. But I had always wandered what it feels like to be stuck in one myself. When I finally got to experiance one ( was in as a guest) even though I see space all the time with lights it was awsome!!

Hopefully, someday I'll get a chance to experience the magical unmagic of a Space Mountain 101... :beg:

This is one of the reasons having the Peplemover back would be awsome, Whenever you hear that SM has it's lights on you can just hop on the good old PM to see what It looks like! I remember this at WDW last time I went with the TTA

It's so true. I see the track on an almost daily basis yet, when I e-stopped there was still an incredible rush! It was really funny correcting the evacuating cast members on the proper route. The other guests gave me quite the look.

Consider Space Mountain like my bedroom. You don't want to do it with the lights on.

On our last trip we were fortunate enough to 101. Unfortunately we were 3/4 of the way through. Enjoy though:

I'll tell you this, if you've seen it with the lights on, you won't ride it again with your hands up...
