  • Monorail Mashup

I was wondering if anyone had pictures of all the monorails leading up to the newest I thought it would be fun to see them all as side by side as possible.

I can't seem to post the actual post. I did something similar in the old thread "Mark VII", post #49.

It's interesting how, at least to my eyes, the Mark IV, V, and VI monorails constitute a step backwards in terms of futuristicity. (Yes, I said "futuristicity." Deal with it! ) I really like the Mark VII design from what I've seen, provided that it...you know...actually runs on the track.

It does not look like they get much of an over haul. After seeing them all though I really like the new Mark VII.

I love that word Data... going to use it all the time now!

I've always thought that the middle design iterations were a step backwards. They looked much more contemporary than futuristic. Bob Gurr has said in interviews that he literally ripped the design of the original off of Flash Gordon's ship and the VII looks much more like that. I'm really glad they are getting back to the retro-futuristic look. Not sure why the retro is in there though because it looks more futuristic than conteporary-futuristic does.

Our revels now are ended. These our actors, As I foretold you, were all spirits and Are melted into air, into thin air: And, like the baseless fabric of this vision, The cloud-capp'd towers, the gorgeous palaces, The solemn temples, the great globe itself, Yea, all which it inherit, shall dissolve And, like this insubstantial pageant faded, Leave not a rack behind. We are such stuff As dreams are made on, and our little life Is rounded with a sleep. mycroft16 on Twitter
