  • Fred Gurley at Fullerton Railroad Days!

As they've done for the past two years, The Disneyland Railroad will transport one of their locomotives and a host of display items to the Fullerton Railroad Days.

    Here's the info: http://www.scrmf.org/rrdays/

This year's event will be next weekend, May 3 and 4, and the star Disney engine will be the newly-rebuilt Fred Gurley. The above link features a photo by our own Darkbeer.

This event is FREE!! You will be able to get into the engine cab, ring the bell, and blow the whistle. You'll also be able to talk with the very knowledgable and afable engine crew.

So, before you head into the park next Saturday or Sunday, swing by the Fullerton railroad station and pay ol' Fred and friends a visit!

I'll definitely be heading up on Saturday morning for this...last year's event was a lot of fun.

Hadn't realized this year's was so close - thanks for the heads up Steve.

Where is Fullerton in relation to Anaheim? Or even better, in relation to Redondo Beach?

Fullerton is a few miles north of Anaheim.

It's probably only a 10 or 15 minute drive from DL. Nautilus lives there and could give you directions.

Do we have a time frame of when the festivities start? I have a 5 year old who wants to be there and we were planning on going anyways. Also any chance of setting up a meet? I would love to meet some fellow MC's if anyone is interested. I have never been to this before (been to the station just not the event) so no clue where we could all meet!

I'd be interested in setting up a meet as well. Either day works fine for me, I'll just have to leave fairly early, probably at 1 or 130 to get back to San Diego in time for work. So if anyone's coming in the morning I'd be more than happy to meet up.

As far as when things start...site says gates open at 9am. So I'll probably plan to be there then.

I would say Sat. simply because Sat. is blocked out at the park for Deluxe so families could spend the day at the Railroad without the feeling of being rushed to make a meet at the park!

Lisa and myself are planning to attend Saturday, taking the train from the Santa Ana station.

And as for how to get to the Fullerton Station, just head north on Harbor Blvd from Disneyland, and in about 4 miles you will be there. (It is north of the 91 freeway).

Saturday, IMHO, would be better than Sunday, so not to interfere with the Sunday Noon Meet at the Hub.

So any suggestions as to where everyone can meet up? Like I said I know the station but not the layout of the actual event!

Since the event is basically on the south end of the station (parking lot), maybe a location near the crossover bridge at the station (north side), but a bit calmer and quieter than the event itself, as for time, Noon might work...

                          Just suggestions.

Due to our far away traveler I would actually recommend an opening time as well as a later time... so if you can't make the morning no sweat but those who need to be in/out early still have a chance to meet up! ped bridge would be easy enough.

It's a small station and a fairly small event as well. We met up with some friends last year in front of the station, the event is to your left if facing it (the Commonwealth Avenue side).

The Spaghetti Factory is a bit further over in the parking lot (closer to the Harbor Blvd. side) is also a good landmark for a meeting point.
