  • The Mania of the Story of Toy!

This ride opens in less than 2 months, yet I know little about the ride itself. I mean, I know there are carnival games, but is there a storyline? Are the ride games known? How about Soft Opening dates. I know this stuff is out there in the minds of some people out there, but I can't find much new info...

This has been discussed, though it does seem like there’s less info out about this ride than you might expect. There was a presentation by WDI to journalists that was on Laughing Place that was probably the most informative thing I’ve seen. Basically, to summarize the answers to your questions:

The story is that Andy has just received a Midway Mania Carnival play set and the “Toys” open it and decide to set up there own midway carnival under the bed while Andy’s out. Guests are “shrunk” to the size of the toys and invited by the toys to participate in their games.

There are, I believe, like four games, one a bo-peep balloon game, one ring toss game I think with Buzz and the aliens, a baseball toss game with the Army men and a shooting game with Woody and Jess.

They have only announced CM and AP soft openings. If you are an AP go to the Web site to sign-up for a chance to win and AP preview. I can’t remember the exact dates, just check the site it has all the details.
The Mickey audience is not made up of people; it has no racial, national, political, religious or social differences or affiliations; the Mickey audience is made up of parts of people, of that deathless, precious, ageless, absolutely primitive remnant of something in every world-wracked human being which makes us play with children’s toys and laugh without self-consciousness at silly things, and sing in bathtubs, and dream and believe that our babies are uniquely beautiful. You know…the Mickey in us.

Thanks Bob. They have been rather quiet about the details.

Do we get shrunk when we enter Paradise Pier or are we shrunk the moment we see Potato head?

The shrinking process was a little unclear. It seems to be a littlle bit of a problem doesn't it. I guess it's when you see Mr. Potato Head, as he apparently is going to think that we're all toys. I know that doesn't seem to make sense though. Unfortunately, I think this may be another one of those inconsistencies that a lot of the fan community is going to be upset with.

Thanks for the details. I was curious myself.
