Big Thunder Nerves?

We all know the tragic story of what happened on Big Thunder Mt RR. Does anyone feel nervous now when riding? I know there are tons of securites and checks in play, but I don't know...I still feel those uncertain apprehensions when banking those turns and speeding through dark tunnels. Now each time I ride, I'm listening to the tracks and any unfamiliar noises. Please tell me I'm not the only paranoid crazy riding?

Nah. I don't feel any more different riding it that I did before the accident.

I'm just a paranoid individual in general, but now I start to think these things on some of the other rides. Man, I need help! :o

Did you see that they put one of those North American life Insurance machines next to the entrance? It's really themed well and looks better than the ones at the airports. :devil: Yes. i have kids and it all concerns me.

I don't mind the DL one. MK's BTMRR, on the other hand, has a couple of spots where, if you're really tall, you get the feeling as if you'd better duck before you get smacked in the head by a rib or something.

Since I wasn't that wild about the ride, I hadn't done it at DL until last year, and found I liked that version a great deal. Someone will tell me know that they're identical now...

I feel safer now than before. I look at kind of like Jack in the box and the ecoli stuff, I felt like it was the safest place to eat after because they are checking more for problems to keep from getting more law suits

It doesn't generally bother me. But when it first came back after post-mortem refurb, we rode in the front row and it was kinda weird. Looking forward at the view through the engine was such a strong reminder that the engine was there and what it could do. And, yes, when we hurtled down into that black tunnel where train crumpled and body mangled and death occurred, it was beyond creepy and scary!

I don't ever want to ride in the front seat again, but that won't be much of a problem - since I always request the back row for the best ride in any event.

I feel the same way still. Even when sitting in the back, I still wince when going through that tunnel.

Doesn't keep me from riding, but it is certainly strange.

I may be sick...but i think it makes the ride all the more exciting. Just make sure to never sit in the front . Which tunnel was it in again?? the second one with the falling rocks, right??

I guess I would be very apprehensive, I know when I was on the Columbia I was looking at the wood around the mooring cleats and especially stayed out of the range if one was to pull out of the deck and go flying...I especially remember the reports of that day when the guest was struck by a cleat, all because of lack of maintenance.
And to this day all those reorts of injuries of all the rides, from the time period of when DCA came to be it all points at that crack whore of a theme park coupled with the ana-lretentive leadership put in plce by the micro manging egotist stuck in uber fantasyland.

I was a bit nervous the first time since the accident. I closed my eyes through the tunnel :o after the first time It didn't bother me anymore.

I rode it shortly after it re-reopened and wasn't even remotely apprehensive about it.

I also thought that it's probably even safer than most of the other rides because of all the attention BTMRR got from the accident.

I'm glad to know I'm not the only one who does that. We were there last weekend, we requested a seat in the back, and the CM seated us in the very front!!!

I just make sure that my kids ride in the front seat and not me :devil:

Riding Thunder Mountain (in the front seat) for 24 hours straight is still safer than the car drive to the Park!

Last time I rode it, a month ago, the lap bar restraint came up before the train came to a complete stop at the station... scared the hell out of me...

But what if it's the time for the guy sitting next to you? We all have to be in an accident because of one person?
