  • Free Parking At The Structure?

Even though I don't pay since I have a premium pass, on Friday night I pulled into the structure at about 9:15 and there were two lanes that were not coned off. To my amazement, the booths were all dark, and anyone entering got to park for free.

Is that normal for them to stop collecting parking fees after a set time?

Yes, there's two conditions where it appears the structure becomes free at night:

    1. The park is open real late. On Midnight/11 days, generally they stop manning the booths at around 8:00.
    2. There's DTD parking being redirected into the structure. If the DTD lot is full, they will use Pinocchio and the structure as free parking overflow.

When I went into Pumbaa yesterday at about noon, there was nobody manning the booth. I wasn't going to have to pay anyway because of my pass, but I thought it was odd.

They did however close the lot about 5 minutes after I parked, so that may have had something to do with it.

Slightly off topic but - I've also found that many times, if you park in the DTD lot and stay past midnight, there is nobody there to collect the fees and you can drive right out. Still, at $6 an hour, I wouldn't risk parking there all day in the hopes that there would be no attendant. With my luck, I would be hit with a $60 parking bill at the end of the day.
