  • Question regarding triathlon swimming at DCA

One of the people at my nail salon asked me if I had any additional info on the Danskin Triathlon being held at Disneyland:

    http://www.danskin.com/laraceday.html

She is on a relay team and was 'volunteered' by her team to do the swimming portion in the lagoon at DCA. I told her I would check and let her know what I could find out. Some of her questions:

    How deep is the water?
It is a .35 swim does anyone know which direction they will be going?

Also does anyone know how on earth they are going to make that water safe to swim in? It's going to take a awful lot of chlorine I imagine!

I work with a gal who's gonna be swimming too, and we were wondering about this. Mainly, the cleanliness of the water.

I've noticed that the water near the Pacific wharf was really clean cause it was hot when one day and was thinking about jumping in cause it looked sooo good. But the rest around paradise pier and the Zephyr.... yech!
        Everybody's got a laughin' place-
trouble is most folks won't take the time to go look for it.

That water is the over flow for attraction GRR grizzy river run:

Himm I have not see the lagoon drain so I do not know how deep it is.

I think that you get in the water at the ramp by California Screamin and make one loop and get out at the same ramp.

I will look for picture of the ramp.

Alan, thank you for the picture. I'll let her know at least there is a ramp into the water and she will not have to jump into the lagoon.

That seems really odd and really cool at the same time.

On the race website, there is a link for a map of the course. According to that map, it does look like the California Screaming ramp will be used. At least that corner is where the swimmers start and finish.
