  • Garden Inn by Hilton Anaheim

Was thinking of staying here for nine nights in late Jan 2010, has anyone stayed there before?

I know it's a bit of a walk, which is fine.

    Hoping to hear some reviews.

We stayed there once a few years back for a training class there. Nice place.

But we'd rather stay right next door at the Marriott's Residence Inn. Awesome complimentary hot breakfast everyday plus "happy hour" meals during the week. Kids Suites if you need them. Very reasonable rates for Marriott Rewards Members and free parking. They also have a BBQ area next to the pool and full kitchens in the rooms. Since you are staying that long, you could easily cook some meals and "live" nicely in it. There is a Target right across the street as well as quite a few places to eat.

I don't know about the walk though. It is a long one, but do-able if you HAVE to. The terrible ART system has a pick up spot in front of the two.

Personally, we drive there (PAP parking) or use the other "benefit" that comes with being regular guests there.

    Enjoy!

We stayed there last year. I highly recommend this hotel!

The Hilton Garden Inn is quiet and small, with a sophisticated Hilton feel to it. That means it is kid-friendly - but there aren't lots of kids running around all over the place.

The staff is very helpful and welcoming.

The rooms are well-appointed with a microwave and with nice amenities such as Neutrogena products.

The hotel has a 24-hour Pantry where you'll find sandwiches and other goodies - as well as an assortment of toiletries and other items you may need.

We took a taxi to Disneyland. It was only $6.00 each way! (Much easier and cheaper than taking the bus or driving there and paying for parking.)

Again, I recommend this hotel if you want a quiet place that is near Disneyland - but still a little distance from the Disney craziness.

Art is the Anaheim public transport system, yes? The one that you can buy a $12.00 multi day ticket for?

        Mark,

Thank you for the Info, anywhere that does not have a lot of kids running around, sounds like my type of place.

I am more than happy to walk, to the parks before and after ( I know it is a couple of K's ). But is it a safe area still? I have not been to LA/Anaheim since "88.

Yes, it is safe to walk, I think. The area between the hotel and Disneyland is mostly retail businesses - restaurants, hotels, etc.

Walking during the daytime is no problem at all. Plenty of folks do.

Walking around late in the evening or after midnite needs the usual cautions.

Actually, the only place that I know of that might be a problem is right there at the 7-11 store at Harbor and Katella.

For some reason, APD lets the hobo's hang out there 24/7. They continually ask for money and leer at the ladies/girls.

One of them tried to "convince" my wife to buy him some booze (I was waiting in the car with the kids). When I saw my wife give me "the look", I quickly put a stop to that nonsense (as she knew I would).

            And not by calling APD...
