Re: FROSTED CUPCAKERY - Best cupcakes in LA and OC.
And if ever you're in Santa Barbara...

Cupcakes are the world’s most perfect dessert. It’s just enough cake to satisfy but if you are still hungry, they’re not so huge that you can’t eat two…or maybe even three. They are completely portable, no fork, knife or plate necessary. And if you don’t mind licking the frosting off your fingers, you don’t even need a napkin.
Crushcakes is proud to be the first cupcakery in Santa Barbara serving our scratch made gourmet cupcakes, specialty bottled drinks and fine coffee and teas.
Crushcakes uses only premium ingredients when baking their cupcakes including Callebaut Chocolate and Fine Sprinkles imported from Europe, Nielsen-Massey vanilla, and the freshest butter, eggs, milk and hand selected fruit.

Heaven in a cupcake tin.God, grant me the serenity to accept the things I cannot change, the courage to change the things I can, and the wisdom to know the difference.

Violet's Cakes in Pasadena
Violet's Cakes - 21 East Holly Street, Pasadena, CA 91103
I'm partial to Violet's Cakes in Pasadena. Compared to many other specialty cupcake shops, their cupcakes look much more "rough" - they look like cupcakes that were hand smeared with frosting vs. the pristine, almost assembly-line look of places like Sprinkles or Dots.
But what sets them apart is they make very interesting frostings and "cake" bases - the Elvis, for example, is a peanut-butter flavored frosting on top of a banana-nut bread in a cupcake cup. (Elvis apparently loved banana and peanut butter sandwiches).
The only problem is the hours - they are open weekdays until 5 pm Wed-Fri, and have NO evening hours. If I can swing by there after work or on Saturday at noon I'll pick up a few to eat later.

A moth or so later my company moved offices to a different city so no more cupcakes. But i have thought of thme every now and then and hoped. The owner was always so sweet and nice.Good morning, son
In twenty years from now
Maybe we'll both sit down and have a few beers
And I can tell you 'bout today
And how I picked you up and everything changed
It was pain
Sunny days and rain
I knew you'd feel the same things...
