  • [Question] Simba Lot Trams

So I booked at Best Western Stovall's, in part because from what I understood I could walk across the street to Simba then catch a tram into the park and thus save on walking.

But now I'm seeing discussions about whether Simba has a tram or not or is even open that often.

Did I misunderstand things or what ?

Or do I just walk to Paradise Pier area and get a tram/monorail ?

There are no trams from the Simba lot. I think you are talking about the old tram route (currently being used by the busses from the Toy Story lot) where you could, on busy days, walk across the street from the convention center and catch a tram.

So from the BW Stovall my best route is taking DL Drive down to the DTD area and either taking monorail or tram in to parks ?

Yes. I don't think you can get the tram unless you walk to Mickey and Friends which is quite a ways from Disneyland entrance and too far for me to walk from the motel to the parking. We had to walk all the way to the Monorail or to the park entrances. However ART does stop right in front of your motel. So that is an option.

Actually I don't mind a short walk. From what I can tell on Google Earth it's only about 1/2 or so from the back of the hotel to the Monorail station.

Doctor just told me my cholesterol is back over 200 so I need to walk more anyway <G>

Your best bet is to walk up west... then cut across the parking lot into DTD.. then walk to the Esplanade.

It's not very walking friendly... but do-able. I'm not sure why Disney doesn't have better walking access on this side... especially since it would make it easier to get from the Convention Center into DTD!

Do you mean West or Disneyland Drive ?

BWS is at corner of Katella and DL Drive so I figured to walk up DLD and catch Monorail at DTD

The walk up Disneyland Drive is quite pretty.

Wouldnt the fastest route be to cut through the Grand Californian and either go into DCA or go into Downtown Disney and go to the esplinade from there?

Last time i stay at the Hilton, we decided to try and take this route going through the parking lots and it took forever. It wasnt till after that i realized that you the Grand Californian connects on Disneyland Dr., DTD, and DCA.

That would be quickest to DL/DCA gates

However if I could take the monorail into DL that would be faster

Depending on the time of day - crowd level.
                        Good morning, son
                        In twenty years from now
Maybe we'll both sit down and have a few beers
And I can tell you 'bout today
And how I picked you up and everything changed
                        It was pain
                        Sunny days and rain
I knew you'd feel the same things...

I posted this in the hotel thread but I will repost here:

Rand McNally calculated the distance from Stovall's to the Rainforest Cafe in DTD is 1.4 miles. I think that is pretty close to the monorail. The distance from Stovall's to the Grand Californian is .4 miles and then from there to Disneyland entrance is .8 miles. Surprisingly, it is a greater distance to the parks than it appears. Although when you walk it it feels a long way.

That might be by car or something. It's way shorter then that.

It's basically .8 miles from the hotel all the way to the DL gate.

Here is the route one would need to take to walk up west, into DTD, and then to the gates.

                            Gmaps Pedometer

                            0.83 miles total
