  • [Question] OC Beach Bus Tour

Has anyone taken the OC Beach Bus Tour that has hop on-hop offs at Newport, Laguna, and Huntington Beach? How does it work? How long do you have at each beach? Or, do you only choose one beach to get off and stay a while at? Does it take all day, or just an afternoon? My son and I would like to see the ocean, but don't want to rent a car and probably don't want to spend an entire day there. An afternoon would be enough. Would this be a good way to do that?

If this is the tour you are talking about, it has to be an all day thing. You can't possibly go to that many places and stop for any length of time in just one afternoon. Heck, when are you going to be visiting? PM me and I'll pick you up and take you to the hot spots in an afternoon, just pay for the gas and buy my a beer and a taco!!! It can last as long or short as you like and I know ALL the places to go.

That seems like a lot for a one day tour.

I would just pick a beach and stay there. Out of all the beaches listed on the tour I would choose the Balboa fun zone as you can go to the beach and have fun at the shops and arcades.

I would advise arriving no later than 9 or 10 at the latest in the morning at any of the beaches if it is during the summer. As it starts getting very crowded after this, not people wise but parking wise. Also keep in mind that the ocean is surprisingly cold for people who come from out of the area expecting warm water like they have in Hawaii or the Carribean. The summer should be tolerable but the water temp will never get above 70 or so. If you are going now, a wet suit is actually advisable as the water temps could be in the 50s. This is why I would choose the fun zone because if the water is too intolerable you could at least look around and not be stranded on the beach itself.

Tide pools at Laguna are nice as is the walk around scenery. Balboa is always fun too. Huntington is probably the least interesting of all of the beaches to see.
