  • [Question] Ramanda inn Maingate

Has anyone stayed here? Is it nice?? It got pretty good reviews on hotels.com...

  • #2
The one at 1650 Harbor? We stayed there last year and were happy with it. Walking distance from the parks so you can go back to the hotel for lunch and dinner, good way to save money on food and parking. They have a complimentary continental breakfast that's ok, but come with a fridge and microwave in the room. There's a grocery and Target a short distance away. Enjoy your trip!

Stayed there June 2011 for 5 nights, felt it was a great bang for buck and in an awesome location: across the street from the parks and a few min walk to Gardenwalk if you want to get away and have a good meal at Cheesecake factory, PF Changs, Bar Louie (one of our favourites).

They recently renovated so the rooms look very decent, and actually the bathrooms amazing. We already booked with them for our next trip coming up in September: $99 a night with free deluxe room upgrade, can't be beat!!

Yes, we stayed there last Oct. It's at least as nice or better than many of the hotels on Harbor. Everything was clean and well kept inside and out. I complained to the front desk that our AC smelled very musty and they quickly replaced the entire unit without any arguing or hassle - that's good service.
The only place they lacked was the morning breakfast. They have few choices and you have to eat around the pool area (which is meticulously maintained) where there are only 3 or 4 small tables for hundreds of guests to eat at.
The only other down side is that's it is considerably (IMO) farther to walk than staying at Park Place or Park View, which are our favorites because of their close proximity to the park.
In short, if need be I wouldn't hesitate to stay at the Ramada again.

We pretty much always stay there. It's a great location and the prices usually aren't too bad. most of the rooms have been remodeled in the past couple of years as well.

Do they have free parking and WiFi? Are there enough parking spaces? Any kind of resort fees?

Oh that is a good point. They are one of the few hotels that don't charge for parking and there was plenty when we were there.
I couldn't remember about the Wifi but their web site says they do indeed have free property wide coverage.
              Have a great time!

Wanted to add, if driving, show them your last fuel receipt and they will reimburse you to a set limit.

                Free WiFi Yes
Free parking for first car yes
                Continental breakfast yes
I am not sure on the resort fees here is a list of what I got charged for the gumball weekend

Room 81.75 per night..... they had a special where if you prepaid you saved 25%
occupancy tax 12.26 per night...... I am assuming that's just basic tax
TID tourism improvement district 1.64 per night... I have never asked about this one but I assume that's a city thing.

Wow $96 per night including taxes. Thats great! I hope I can do as well for our trip in October. I haven't booked yet, but I'm pretty sure this is where we'll stay. Can't beat the location and if we can stay under $100 I'll be thrilled!

                  Thanks, Biggsworth.

Good to know there was plenty of parking. When we stayed at the Travelodge on Harbor last fall, you were very lucky to get a spot when you returned at night. People were parking any and everywhere in that smallish lot.

I wonder if they'll reimburse for some gas when we go down in October. Guess its time to call and ask! : )

                  Thanks ScottG...we're neighbors, kinda.
