[Question] Best time in the fall to get good hotel rates at resort properties?

Normally we go during gay days and appreciate the $225/night rate at the Grand Californian... this year we cannot go that weekend, and I'm trying to find another weekend with decent rates in October or November. Does anyone have any tips on finding a rate that approaches that one? Are there any other conventions or discounts during what I thought was a slow period?

I know that Utah schools are off on Oct 18-19. All the public schools in the state are off those two days. That four day weekend gets more business than others on Oct.

There are many good apartments available around the area in order to rent them. If you are coming with your family, you can hire one of them. It always leads to good deals.

Sorry just saw the date on this post, but FYI if you didn't get an answer for 2012...
We always go in fall or Jan/Feb. I always take advantage of their fall/winter promo for up to 40% off at the Grand. Best rate times we've found for fall are last week of October (halloween week), like second week of November and week after Thanksgiving. Unfortunately, since the opening of Cars Land they have not offered their usual fall and winter promo and I've called to see if its coming, no signs of it coming yet. So it usually is a slower time with better rates but fall winter 2012/2013 hasn't been good for promos/discounts.
