  • [Question] Hojo Discontinuing Retro Rates?

I recently emailed Hojo about an upcoming trip we are planning on taking. I noticed their rates were pretty high and mentioned in my email that they often advertise $59 and up rates on Miceage but that I wasn't seeing anything near that on their website during the off season. The lady who replied was very pleasant and helpful but I was disappointed by this line:

"Unfortunately, we are no longer offering retro rates in the future."

It sounds like Hojo has become so popular that they no longer need those types of special offers? I'm happy
for them but sad that this most likely ends our stays there. Even with Micechat or AP discounts the rates
    are pretty pricey now.

I was very fond of staying there using the retro rate deal. In fact I check their forum page frequently to see when they have the rate available. I had noticed that they pulled all of the ones from later this year and early next year, and they haven't had anything up since early June. I was hoping that it was just a busy time right now and the rates would be back in the fall, but you have confirmed my fear that they would realize what a good deal they were giving and axe the program.

Oh well...I guess this will give me the opportunity to try out some other properties in the resort district.

That's really sad...I love staying at the HoJo's as well when they had the retro rate. Maybe if things slow down again they might consider offering them again. I too will have to use some other hotels for my trips.

Too Bad - i wonder if they still have their APer rates which were very similar to retro rates.

In the email I received, she said that they still offer a 20% AP discount. However, at least for the dates we were looking at (end of Sept./ beginning of Oct.), that still made it about $145 a night! I think they only had one of their better rooms available though.... I don't know what a more standard room rate would have been.

That is the only one thing I don't like about Micechat is that they keep sponsoring HoJo and these rates and let me tell you HoJo is a good hotel if you have small children. I have tried to use the promo LKMC and I was given a rate of $160.65 a night what a joke, I have use Priceline and Hotels.com and bid on 3*** rooms as low as 40.00 a night at a resort hotels in the area, I'll pass on HoJo I could stay else where for 3 days for the price of 1 night at other resort hotels around the area.

                Re: Hojo Discontinuing Retro Rates?

I'm extremely upset that they discontinued the Retro Rate. It was a fun part of their whole Retro hotel feel. It's what really set them apart from the rest of the hotels in creating a fun culture around staying at their hotel. I'm afraid to say I will be looking elsewhere for a hotel to stay at as I know I can get better deals at other resort hotels, some just as close if not closer.

                  Re: Hojo Discontinuing Retro Rates?

We will continue to offer super discounts; we're just not calling them "retro rates" right now. The best way to get these new discounts is to subscribe to our email updates. Keep in mind that you wont receive notifications for past announcements, just those going forward, and we're not going to send out a bunch of worthless info, only the options you subscribe to. We will soon require that the actual email be presented at check-in to receive the "Super Family" 50% discount, so make sure to join!

We are in the middle of huge improvements to 94 of our Standard Double rooms and installing shiny new 37" LED televisions in our rooms. I'll post more details and photos of our improvements soon on our hojoanaheim.com blog pages.

I got the "update your info" email and I did go ahead and update. I am eager to see what these offers will be like.

I've tried at least a dozen time to get a discount from them, even on off-season times, and never can find a deal, therefore I've never gone. It's hard to go to this hotel when you can get the Hilton for $100 (rack), or $60-70 from a discounter like Last Minute travel. I've had the Holiday Inn for $50, and the Red Lion for $59/night.
