  • [Review] Rainforest Cafe

This past weekend I was at the parks with my sister and my niece and nephew. Both kids LOVE animals so I decided that Rainforest Cafe would be a excelent choice to take them for lunch. We walked in at about 1 p.m. and waited for a server at the desk, walks up to the desk and prints out a reciept for the 4 of us, after walking up to the second level of the restaraunt we were quickly seated and were asked for drinks, ordered our drinks and engaged in conversation with my niece and nephew, I did notice at this point that we were the only people seated on this level, I didnt know if there were people seated on any other levels, so we are sitting there and our server gets to our table and asks if we would like a appitizer to start off with, we decline the offer, our server grabs a menue at our table and starts listing all the great appitizers listed, I again politely declined his offer, so he lets me know that if I changed my mind he'd be happy to take my order... Pushing sales are we? About 30 minutes.. YES 30 MINUTES!! Go by before he returns to take our orders by this time I made the choice to just get an appitizer just so we could get out of the place, I ordered Buffalo Wings for the group. This time 1 HOUR goes by and finally our food arrives with 3 WINGS on the plate. I then made the choice to ask for the recipt, after another 25 minutes goes by the bill finally comes, my group and I get up from the table and walk down to the floor level and just the person I wanted to see, the manager. I let him know of the horrible service that his employees are providing I then showed him the bill and kindly let him know that my drinks(cause that was literally our meal) are on his restaraunt and that I refuse to pay a dime, we then walked out, we headed over to Jazz Kitchen express and enjoyed a delicious meal. This restaraunt has been in decline for sometime now and I should have known better before taking my family there, it seems as though it has finally hit rock bottom

I agree, my wife and ate there on the 1st of Feb. and the burgers were rare and the meat did not look like fresh ground, more like tube meat, she did not eat hers will not go back...Bad Food and they kept trying to get us to buy their discount card.

OMGosh..I almost left before even ordering the last time I was there simply because of this! I know they have to try and sell this card but when I say "no thanks" then say it again and again and again after we've eaten and again on the way out the door.....I'm doubt I'll EVER considering getting it or returning.

We've never had a problem there, though we didn't go on our last trip to Disneyland. I have the loyalty card, and it's good at other Landry's, including Bubba Gump's. If a particular location is a problem, you should probably report it to Landry's corporate office.

We chose to eat here during our vacation last Spring. I will never eat at this location again. The one in Vegas has much better service and the food tastes better.

My biggest complaint was the fact that I ordered an alcoholic drink and was served it in a "souvenir" glass that I didn't ask for. Then the check came and I saw that my single drink cost $18! I asked the server why it was so much and he said it was because the glass was included and I get to keep it.

Instant refund from a Manager for that one. I can only imagine how many guests get this "upgrade" without their knowledge....

Interesting. We ate at Rainforest a couple of years ago and it was fine. Nothing special, nothing bad just a typical meal. Next time we went back it was horrible. Bad/slow service, pushy like sales people, food was ok at best. We decided we wouldn't go back and find somewhere else the next trip. Next trip we went to Bubba Gump's and it was great. Vowed this would be our new place when we returned next time. Well that next time was this past December and we went back to Gumps and it was terrible, almost made Rainforest appealing again.

If they are part of the same group of restaurants, then I would have to say that maybe Landry's as a whole is declining.

It used to be such a great place and then they got bought out and got the typical corporate uniformity makeover. They took the interesting stuff off the menu, and the service went downhill. It's the same thing that happened to Claimjumper. THey were bought out and the corporation ruined it. They took the most unique items off the menu, including some that were quite popular. It's idiotic. THese huge restaurant corporations buy a successful, unique chain, and then proceed to remove everything that made that chain popular. I used to love Claimjumper and the Rainforest Cafe, but I haven't been there in years because after they were bought out, the changes were a big turn-off.

Sad. I tend not to go to the RainForest cafe when I'm at the park, since there are more unique offerings available. I tend to avoid chain restaurants most of the time if I can, anyway, but to hear they've been homogenized is sad.

I agree 100% about Claim Jumper. After Landry's bought them they took the salad bar out!, and the beef ribs are all bone...Service sucks too.

We were there earlier this month, and had a very similar experience. Bad service, very long waits, raw burgers. My daughter loved her clam chowder, but I dont see us returning.

I've gone a couple of times the last few months... I think the biggest problem is the PRICES! I mean, it's Disneyland, so I'm prepared to shell out a little extra... but when I'm paying $14+ for an average burger and the fries are an extra $3... seriously? It would be one thing if the food was amazing... but it simply isn't.

For a light lunch, though, my friends and I (if there's four of us) order the appetizer combo for about $22 and split it. Fun environment .. kinda.... but not really when compared to Disneyland. And the amount of merchandise for a restaurant its almost embarrassing.
