  • How is the HOJO across from Disneyland?

Hey folks!! We got a Discount Book rate of $69 a night at Hojo, but, wanted to be sure it's a good place to stay before it gets TOO close and we run out of options. We'll be there Dec. 1 - 8.

Anyway--we like the thought of a fridge, but, is it SUPER clean? And, comfy?? Any thoughts are greatly appreciated!

    Thanks!!!

Re: How is the HOJO across the street from DL???

It depends on the building you get into. The newer/multi floor part was very nice. The two story smaller older buildings sucked. The beds were comfortable, but they have these windows up really high which are not covered and up and in that area were cobwebs and dust. I like dark hotel rooms, not light pouring in at the crack of dawn.

I stayed there this past July. Didn't really have a problem with it. It's comfortable for what it is.

I did ask for the room that does NOT have the skylight, because we like to sleep in. We have a "home office" room, with 2 queen beds. I got the impression it's one facing DL, but, not a view room, which could mean a lower floor.

What does that mean? haha! Comfortable for what it is. What type of bedding??? Does it have hotel comforters??? And, are the beds comfortable? Is it CLEAN? I am a clean freak with hotels! ha!

We had a home office room once. It was in the newer building. We liked that room. the hotel is not as clean and comfortable as other hotels. I prefer the Hyatt or crowne plaza, but it's not a bad hotel.

We used to always stay at either the Hilton Suites or Homewood Suites (also a Hilton hotel) until last November when we had theft from our room and their insurance would NOT pay our claim. I was pissed! So, we decided not to stay at a Hilton again. This is where my dilemma came from...as I've not stayed anywhere else (except my niece's in Long Beach, but, she moved to Chicago) !!!

I just hope it's super clean, because if it's not, I will leave! Ick. Can't tolerate unclean!!! I need a plan B. Maybe I will reserve the Hyatt or Crowne Plaza for the 2nd night onward, and cancel at the last minute if the room is okay at Hojo.

I liked it a lot. It seemed really clean to me and my room was huge (different than yours). I think the beds were comfy but I was so tired I fell right asleep )

Jimmie and I have stayed there a number of times, and we've never had a bad experience, even staying on the freeway side. (Just keep the windows shut, and the sound is minimal.) It's a well-run place with nicely manicured grounds. Free internet, too. (wired only) The walk is a little farther than other places on Harbor, but Mimi's is close by, and the food there is good.

We stay at the HoJo all the time. Stay in bldg 2 or get a theme park view to avoid freeway noise. Rooms are mostly clean, we've never had an issue. The comforters are standard hotel issue, sorry.

The walk is a bit long but do-able.

We are staying at the BWPPI that Wed-Fri, and then moving to the HoJo with a theme park view room on Sat.

It's not the same caliber as a Hyatt or a Hilton hotel. Polyester bedspreads and the like. Decent size though and yeah, those high windows sucked. Morning light is :thumbdown

Try Embassy Suites (South), or are they Hilton owned?
I give myself very good advice, but I very seldom follow it.
That explains the trouble that I'm always in...

Yeah, if you want a Hilton type... HoJo isn't it!
BTW, I had a freeway view and didn't hear any noise. And I am really sensitive to that. Oh and there was no skylight or high uncovered windows. Guess I lucked out!

Re: How is the HOJO across the street from DL???

It depends on the building the front desk puts you in. The lower buildings are lack privacy. The tower rooms are perfect for watching the fireworks. :ap: If you can get one facing the park.
The internet hookup is a pain to use depending the room, because of the maintenance and upkeep. Severed wires, bad connections.
The staff is always friendly and nice, always willing to go the extra mile.
It's kind of like a box of chocolates, you never know what you might get.

I have only stayed there once. It was a very good experience. The room was clean and roomy, the beds were comfy. We had a Disney view and it was nice. That rate of $69 is a great deal. If you go to tripadvisor.com there are a lot of good reviews. I know we have some Micechatters who swear by HoJo, I don't think we have heard from any of them yet.

We don't even own a laptop computer, so, I don't care about internet connections. The nice thing at Homewood Suites was that they have a business center and you can use their internet for FREE! It was awesome, because Mark always falls asleep before me, so, I'd run downstairs in my slippers and cozy clothes, and tell my MC buddies about my day. This trip....no dice.

I am mostly looking for clean....and not noisy. I am nervous because I've not stayed here before, so, the tips on WHICH room to choose are GREAT as well as what building to avoid. We have a room facing DL, but, I think on a lower floor, because the guy "Willie" said that we don't have the view room because they are full. (Which irks me because we booked a few months ago!)
