Any recommendations for a great place to stay in the Big Bear Lake area?

As a child we spent every Thanksgiving at the Pine Haven Cottages ((909) 866-2637) 517 Knight Ave, Big Bear Lake, CA 92315. I can't seem to find a website for them, but my sister still goes up there with her family annually and its still nice.

I am not sure about hotels, but I would check the AAA ratings or tripadvisor before you book because I know tehre are some really old places up tehre that are not very wekk kept.

    A little piece of heaven

Just got back, and we can totally recommend the Pine Knot Guest Ranch. They have a mix of smaller and larger cabins (accommodating from 2 to 8 per cabin). We stayed in their 'Cedar Creek' location - a small house really, with full kitchen, full-sized den and two bedrooms upstairs. The owner was helpful, but not 'in the way'. They even plowed the driveways early last Sunday after that late-winter snow storm.

Glad you had a good time! You were almost in my neighborhood! I'm only about an hour away from Big Bear!
