  • Remember the Tahitian Terrace?

Who remembers the Tahitian Terrace restaurant in Adventure-Land, between the Jungle Cruise and the Enchanted Tiki Room? I worked there for around two or three summers during my college years back in 1971-1974 and have a lot of fond memories and funny stories. Please share what you recall of that crazy collection of Asian American college students who were all thrown together in that wonderful place!

I worked in the Tahitian Terrace and one summer was the Matre D'. I had to seat around 100 people in 5 minutes with an army of seating hostesses so that they could eat and before enjoying the Polynesian Dinner Show! Some of the celebrities I seated were Bob Hope, Peter Falk, and then Secretary of State, Henry Kissinger.

The Tahitian Terrace was my fave restaurant in Disneyland from the time it opened (I was a teen) to when it closed, maintaining a tie with the Blue Bayou for Most Magical. The food was always great, the staff was always excellent, the dinner show always wonderful. But the favorite time of day for me (and later for me and my wife) was early lunch, right after opening. Best table was the deuce to the right of the stage, close to the Jungle Cruise boats as they came by on their way to the dock. Skips would point to us and make jokes about the "widlife," and we'd mug back. Many lunches, many dinners, many great memories.

The terrace was one of our favorite places to eat. If you were in college in 71-74, I am not much older than you.

I remember the Tahitian Terrace. I thought we were on Gilligan's Island when we ate there.

I remember the TT, and I remember the JC skippers making the jokes, but unfortunately we never ate there...not even when it was transformed into Aladdin's Oasis. Sadly, it is one of the few spots I have never been to in the park.

i remember growing up with aladdin's oasis but for the past month i've been thinking of the tahitian terrace so much, hahaha.

i really wish they could bring it back + with no character tie-ins please.
it seemed like a lot of fun.

I fondly recall dining on more than one occasion at the Tahitian Terrace, and enjoying not only the great food, but the terrific floorshow, especially the delightful and beautiful hula dancers. I dearly miss it and long for it to return.

I remember just vaguely my parents taking my sister and I to eat there and see the show sometime in the mid 70's. I must have been all of 6 or 7 years old. I remember a fire spinner and thats about it. I know my parents would often send take us to my uncle and aunts house after a day in the park and then go back to eat their and catch the show. I also seem to remember that it was only open for dinner or maybe thats what my parents used to tell us.

Absolutely. My favorite lunch on property: Catamaran Salad and Planters Punch. Great summer meal before the start of swing shift.

The Tahitian Terrace -- My favorite restaurant at Disneyland was always the dinner show at the beautiful Tahitian Terrace (now Aladdin's Storytime Theater) complete with hula and fire dancers! Especially with the success of Lilo & Stitch, there is no reason this favorite shouldn't return to the park (along with a rehab of the historic Tiki Room).

                          Regards,

Is that the Hawaiian looking thing that backs up the Plaza Pavillion and Tiki Room? It looks like CM's take breaks there now...I peeked over the wall the other day and wondered what used to be there.
