You know, I can understand Walt's claiming Marceline as his home town. I lived in another small town, Denison, Tx from the age of three to almost nine and I consider it my home town. I think your home town depends not on where you were born, but where your personality was formed. By the way Denison was also a railroad town (the KATY) and looks a lot like Marceline...

I love it, I love to hear about Walt Disney's roots and the influences on his work. Was the Disney house built by Elias? It's amazing how much of it is still the same.

Elias Disney bought the house and the 45-acre farm on which it sat. The house was built by Civil War veteran William Crane.

There will be some interesting surprises in my future Marceline articles.

I'll try to limit Marceline to every other week, or even less frequently.

I enjoyed the article! Are the miniature Autopia cars still in the park in Marceline?

                  No.

The Midget Autopia was moved to Marceline in 1966 and operated seasonally for about 5 years.

I'm planing a whole article on Midget Autopia in Marceline.

                    Nicely done, Werner.
You might share with your readers that the town of Marceline celebrates Walt Disney's legacy every September with a salute to animation and cartooning. It draws many visitors and talented artists. Well worth attending. Hope you visited the Disney museum that's housed inside the old train depot and got to see the recreation of the Disney barn on the farm.

                      Welcome to MiceChat!

I'm planning several additional Marceline articles. I went the barn twice (where I saw your book and artwork) and spent a good part of one day at the Walt Disney Hometown Museum in the restored Santa Fe station.

I'll be sure to mention Marceline's ToonFest in one of the articles.
