  • Yester-Knott's ?

I know Yesterland is devoted to Disneyland. How about a Yester-Knott's site about extinct Knott's Berry Farm attractions? Do any exist on the web?

There's a bunch of rides I miss that were replaced by extreme coasters. I really miss the Soap Box Racers and the Parachute Drop.

I remember there being a site about Knott's Berry Tales (LOVED that ride), but I don't know if that's still around.

knotts beary tales (man i miss the smell in that place) building is still in place, they rethemed it to Kingdom of hte Dinosaurs and currently its sitting up there doing nothing. I personally wish they'd open a new dark ride that could be easily rethemed as a Haunt attraction during october.

i also miss the Soap Box Racers, but I also miss the ride before them..not sure of the name, but it was basically the same track but you rode motorcycles instead...man that ride was great!

i also miss The Corkscrew, it was the first roller coaster i rode with a loop in it!
Will there be screams when the sun sets,

I miss the old Knott's. As a kid, we would do both Disneyland and Knott's. Knott's is too much like Six Flags.

I can't remember Knott's Berry Tales, but I do remember Kingdom of the Dinosaurs. I enjoyed it a lot. It was cool inside so it was a relief on the hot summer days. I also missed the Soap Box Racers.

I know the Extinct Attractions Club did DVDs for old Knott's. I remember they produced one for Knott's Berry Tales and one for Kingdom of the Dinosaurs, too.

I remember Knott's before they actually starting charging admission! Just the shops, restaurant and Ghost Town! They began charging admission in 1968. I remember when the Knott family still actually owned Knott's!!!

There used to be a site called Beary-Y Tales. Westcoaster.net is a shoot-off from that site.

Not sure if it's still around.

The SoapBox Derby and Beary Tales were the bomb! I haven't been back to Knott's since they took out the Derby. What's the point?

I know what you mean... The most fun I ever had was on the Derby ride with a group of friends...

The last time I went to the park a year ago was only cuz I was given comps... and I was given them because they guy who had them didn't want them...

(I still will go there for the chicken dinner on an odd occasion... But even that isn't what it used to be...)

                      Re: Yester-Knott's ?

I would love to see a website showing all the rich history that Knott's used to have. I never got to experience the Haunted Shack or the SoapBox Derby Racers, but would love to see them represented in a Yesterland style format.

The Parachute ride and Reflection Lake are vivid images I retain from the park that I miss seeing, so I would love to see this idea pan out!

I hated the Soap Box Racers. It was slow and lame. They took out my other favorite ride, the Motorcycle Chase, to put that stupid ride in. Loved the Motorcycle Chase. Now *that* was thrilling and fun.

I also loved the parachute jump and the corkscrew.

Not if you had a supervised youthgroup of 25 kids take it over to see who can beat who... It was the most fun I have ever had...

                              *sigh*

I really miss the Haunted Shack and Knott's Beary Tales. When I was a child, I had a book titled "Knott's Beary Tales" that I loved reading. Getting to experience the book on the ride was a wonderful memory for me.

My question is, why do they put up senseless rides like Perilless Plunge, or as I call it, the Plunger being thats what they have to use to pull your butt outta the ground after that drop. Whats the point? You go up, and you go down, then the rides over. Complete waste of time, what so you can get wet?!?! And what was with that ketchup and mustard ride, the windjammer? They replaced the Soap Box for THAT?!?!

I used to work at that park 10 years ago, and I worked the whirlpool and greased lightning before they renamed them and moved them. <sigh> Miss the old glory days of the park. Right now, I don't see it lasting very long. It's busiest times are Halloween Haunt.

And I remember one of the last times I went on the Haunted Shack, I got chosen to sit in the "chair". The person tried to help me out, but I refused it. The third time, I sat up without the use of my arms!!!

Soapbox racers! The highlight of going to Knott's every summer in summer camp!

I loved Kingdom of the Dinosaurs too! The only ride I've ever actually been yelled at by the people who hide in the shadows :-) I remember getting stuck in one of the lightening tunnels parts when you travel in time for like an hour when the ride broke down. It's a bit hard to see straight after staring at electricity bolts for an hour and listening to the scientist guy exclaim over and over again that you're traveling back in time.

                                    GO BUFFS!!!

What I most remember from that ride was that in one tunnel before you go up the hill, there would be these black strings that would hang down. Everyone would always pull on them. :lmao:

I haven't been to Knott's since 94. Do they still have those antique cars (their version of Autopia) that were beside the soap box racers? I went to Silverwood this summer and they got an antique car autopia style ride. The cars look like the same ones that are in/were at knott's.
