  • Rest in Peace America Sings (1974-1988)

This upcoming April 10th will be the 30th anniversary of the Disneyland America Sings' closure. It's been 30 years since the Carousel building was used to its' full potential. Now it's just a shell of a building. May it rest in peace. At least the soundtrack is still around on CD to entertain folks.

I remember coming to the park and seeing the "home of future attraction" sign on the building. And then we waited and waited and waited......
Never underestimate the power of stupid people in large groups.

To Bad ,Today Disney could not see the full potential of the Carousel Building........
which show me the lack of innovation, inspiration , and imagination!

I think America Sings was the last audio animatronic driven show Disneyland came up with.

I guess we're still waiting for a worthy replacement.

The more reason to demolish the building and build something new. Without the rotation ability, the building lost its' uniqueness.

Sadly, I agree with everyone here. There could be so much they could put there that would greatly enhance Tomorrowland, but it requires vision, imagination, and someone with enough power in the company to greenlight an extremely ambitious project. Personally, I'd like to see another animatronic musical revue, like what they thought about for a Tomorrowland refurb that didn't happen. It would have done wonders to liven up that land and make it feel lived in and alive.

Tomorrow is the 30th anniversary of the America Sings attraction's final performance. I will listen to the soundtrack tomorrow to commemorate the unfortunate demise of an attraction that started Tomorrowland's downfall from grace.

Rest in peace America Sings. It was 30 years ago today that it closed for good. The Carousel building hasn't been the same since.

So sad, even after all these years. I remember as a child, after a full day of fun at Disneyland - no matter what time of day I watched America Sings - I would always hear the soundtrack of AS going through my head clear as anything on the entire ride home. (At least until I fell asleep in the car.)
