  • [Question] The biggest Adventureland?

I've read in many places that HK's DL proudly boasts the largest Adventureland, but with only 4 attractions, 2 restaurants and 1 shop, I was just wondering how that could be. It sounds a silly question I know but I was just wondering.

Hong Kong doesn't have a Frontieland. Adventureland pretty much takes up all its space.

Take a look at the map

It does look quite large, but I just find it a little hard to believe that it's bigger than, say, Paris', which has a huge cave network and a seemingly more complicated structure than HK's. Does JC have anything to do with it? I'm probably totally off the mark here it just seems weird.

They have quite a bit of unused space, but it is definitely the largest Adventureland in terms of sheer acreage. They have enough space there for a very large-scale Pirates of the Caribbean, Haunted Mansion, and a Pirates-themed mini-land.

So this is based on unused space?!

No, I'm pretty sure it's still the biggest based on the current area utilized. You can tell just by walking through the land. When it's reached its full potential, it will definitely be the largest Adventureland by far.

I do not know if it is the largest... but it sure is one of the nicest ones. Lushly themed and with a great JC ride and awesome Lion King Show. Now, in regards to size... you also have to remember they have a huge river out front surrounding the Tarzan Treehouse, plus many small pathways thru woodsy areas, that also include waterways cutting thru jungle like gardens... so IMHO... it may be just a bit bigger than DLP's. And NO, I am not including the unused area, which is already being developed (as I could see today when I was there)

Cool, it just seemed a bit strange to me, but I guess it's also that DLRP's has more kind of sections as opposed to one, maybe it just seems bigger. I'd love to visit HKDL but I probably never will, oh well.

Well witchipoos... when you sit down and look at the guidemap, you can clearly see that HKDL's Adventureland basically takes almost one third of the entire park.

ORGOCH: Well, yeah, that's why I said what I said. Ping Pong Dizzyland's got the biggest dang Adventureland even though it's the smallest Dizzyland park. An' it don't make no sense.

I would bet Anaheim's is the smallest of all.

                            Re: The biggest Adventureland?

I have been there twice. Both times were on a Sunday morning at 10am (opening time). I rode all the rides (Space Mountain 2x) and left by noon.

The last time was last February and there were no lines, everything was a walk on.

                            My complaints are:
                            1. The train around the park is not a real steam train.
                            2. The space mountain que has no theme. The load area is a mere 10 feet inside the bldg.
                            3. The jungle cruise jokes just don't work.
                            4. The admission price is the same as Disneyland, but there are only 4 rides.

                            What I liked:
                            1. The mechandise is a lot less expensive then in the US.
                            2. The ride lines are shorter

                              Re: The biggest Adventureland?

Pros and cons indeed. I guess, of course I've never been, HKDL is kind of like WDS when it first opened, ok, not that horrendously disgustingly atrocious, but an almost blank canvas with loads of potential to expand and be great, but opened with not enough of that realised. Of course HKDL opened with perhaps a little more going for it than WDS, but they're fixing it. Slowly. I guess the admission price thing is a general problem, and just an example of Disney wanting to get more money. It's the same with WDS and DLP (you may have guessed I'm a DLRP forum-dweller), for the same price you get a park that's a lot less pretty and closes 4 hours earlier (I will however say that the attractions in WDS are mostly very good). HKDL's Adventureland should, in theory, end up the size of Texas if it's the largest and still has massive expansion room, I mean crikey. Just how big is it, and how big compared to other Adventurelands I wonder?
