  • [Other] The Eye in the Sky Doesn't Lie: HKDL Size Comparison

Four parks (TDL, MK, DLP, HKDL) as seen from the roughly same distance overhead. I did this by resizing the images so that all the carousels matched (assuming they have roughly the same diameter) and framing to the railroad berm.

    Somebody got shorted...

That isn't really a fair comparison. You should compare Hong Kong to the original Disneyland... especially since the original park was their inspiration.

But yes... they did get shafted.

It looks like DLP is the biggest MK-style park in terms of size, not attractions. I think I have read somewhere that DLP is indeed the biggest park, but I'm not sure.

          And size does matter.

When shopping for a car... I don't compare the new ones to a 1955 Ford... no matter if it's a retro car or not

Standards, expectations, and COMPETITION is different now vs 1955. So even if you were inspired by the original DL.. you should be trying to build the DL of 2020... not 1955.

DLP is the largest MK-style park (~140 acres), followed by TDL (~115 acres), MK (~107 acres) and DL (~75 acres)

^ The actual number is - tellingly - hard to come by. MSNBC says "about 100 acres" but that must refer to the area within the berm, half of which is undeveloped and reserved for phase II. I'd say the actual built park is around 70 acres.

One of you numbers is off then, there is no way that there is only a 5 acre difference between DL and HKDL.

^ Disneyland, CA is 85 acres from a quick internet search. I'm only guessing as to what HKDL is... maybe less than 70...

The following pic is made by one of the hkdl fans THUMPER , hope she is not mind me post her well-done pic here[please tell me if you mind].

The pic is DL VS HKDL . So we can see the size of DL is not that bigger than HKDL a lots. From some information , HKDL will be bigger than DL after expansion.

Sure, HKDL isn't as large as the recent parks but due to its location, it can't possibly be even close.

When comparing cars, size is a factor, but they're pros and cons to both big and small. For competition's sake, it's the extra features, the handling, the design that we all look at, and HK kinda got the shaft in that area too.

But this thread is ONLY going by size. And besides, I was also saying it's not a good comparison by comparing the size of the Carousel. I'd like some more concrete facts.

I'm not denying that HK got the shaft... it's just not what I think of to be a big deal. The problem I have with it is that it opened with hardly anything at all.
