  • News CEO of HKDL:"we are not afraid of competition with Shanghai Disneyland"

    15/09/2009 10:46PM

CEO of HKDL:"we are not afraid of competition with Shanghai Disneyland"

Andrew Min-ho Kam, CEO of Hong Kong Disneyland, said "do not worry about Shanghai to build a Disney theme park, it will not affect Hong Kong Disneyland."

Mr. Kam was speaking in Shanghai that 1/3 of the tourists for Hong Kong Disneyland came from the mainland China and half of whom came from Guangdong and Shenzhen. He believes that both regions (the Yangtze River Delta and Pearl River Delta) are big enough to support two Disney theme parks and resorts.

He added that the project of expanding Hong Kong Disneyland will be put out to tender in October and construction to start by the end of this year, investment of the expansion amounts to approx.HK$6.25 billion, 30 new recreational facilities/attractions will be added in the next five years. He expects that Hong Kong Disneyland to break-even in 2014.
