  • [Question] Inspiration Lake?

What is Inspiration Lake? I originally thought it was a shopping district like DTD, Disney Village, and Ikspiari, but if they are planning to build a DTD in HK, then what the heck is Inspiration Lake?

      Re: Inspiration Lake?

Yeah it is just a lake, i think it does serve some greater purpose though due to the mass land reclamation, something like holding all the run off water from the huge hills surrounding the property or something else like that.

It is mainly for irrigation purposes.

There's a nice walk around the lake, and plenty of pleasant seating areas. You can also rent 4-person bikes and boats.

If memory serves, it also serves as a reservoir for fire and emergency water purposes.

There is also a 7-11 store there... so buy your water before you set out to do the walk around the lake. It's a pity there is not much else happening there. In fact, I have not been to Inspiration Lake since the week before the park opened. They really could use a hotel by the shores of that lake.

One more thing.. the original poster referred to a DTD district. Please know there is NO downtown district built in HKDLR. However, the space on either side of the promenade leading from the MTR station and the ferry landing, towards the Whale fountain is set aside for that purpose and in the future, it may be possible that guests entering HKDL will pass thru a DTD complex., in similar fashion to what guests at all 4 Universal parks on Earth do when they walk thru CityWalk. to reach the parks' main entrance. (Note Universal Singapore does not have a Citywalk but does feature a HUGE shopping/entertainment/hotels/casino/restaurant complex, which is part of the Sentosa Resort, where Universal Singapore is located. Look for a report on that soon on the weekend update feature of Micechat).

They DO have to build a resort by the lake, it is a shame to waste such pretty view.

Building yet another big house on the side of a Hong Kong mountain would be a waste of a great view. If they need to build anything it is more rides and a second gate before they think about more hotels... like the did in Paris.

They dont NEED any more hotels, just a few wings added when (or if) the resort ever gets off its feet. That space reserved for a thrid hotel is bigger that the park itself. I just didnt know if IL was a shopping district of not because im not so sure where a DTD would go and a water park would go(notice in HKDL they seem to like public bathing - UFOzone, and that spot comming to Grizzley Gultch

They can just build cabins by the lake. Higher rates, better landscape.

I don't really deem it as a part of Disneyland Resort. (I am a Hong Kong people.) But maybe it's suitable for picnic, and photo-taking. But indeed, people go to Lantou Island would have more choices for outdoor creation nearby, indeed, I think it's a waste of land.

What you said sounds kinda contradictory... If its uses are only for picnics and photoshoots, that would be a complete waste.

Thinking about how much land costs in HK... i would call Inspiration Lake a COMPLETE waste of money AND space.
