  • [Question] October Golden Week

Trying to plan a trip for October but haven't managed to google up the dates for Golden Week. Since October 1 is on a Saturday, would the celebrations be that first week of October following?
Of course we'd prefer to avoid the big crowds from the mainland, but would love to catch the Halloween celebration!

    Re: October Golden Week

Golden week starts on 1 October and ends in a week, ie, 7 October. 5 October is Chung Yeung Festival, a public holiday in HK.

If you want to avoid the big crowds, then come to HKDL near the middle or the second half of the month when there are no public holidays.

        Re: October Golden Week

still researching - noticed that hotel room prices jump up quite a bit for Oct 10 - Oct 31....since it's not due to Golden Week, is there something else I should be worried about avoiding??

I've heard that "convention season" is in the fall, which I could see affecting prices, but maybe not Disney attendance?

sorry to ask too many questions - but the HKDL site isn't updated for October yet, so I can't research there!

          Fair Preview | HKCEC

There are the two Mega Shows at HKCEC, not sure if that's the reason.

Anyway that's the period for Halloween Celebrations at both HKDL and Ocean Park.
