Although there are some nice props inside, that building looks terrible, especially the two green tubes on top.

I really wonder, what did WDI think when designing that monster. It just doesn't fit and ruins the look of MS.

From the first picture above I wasn't sure, but further down it grew on me. I kind of like the idea. Sort of gives the feeling of the Liberty Arcade in Paris, although its far from subtle from the outside.

EDIT: OK so now I've just read the other thread (I thought Monster on Main St. was a Halloween event!) and realised what its replaced... what a shame.

So can someone please post a picture from farther away. Does the new building protrude beyond the other buildings? An overview picture would really help to see how good the "Victorian Collectibles" building blends in, or a lack of it.

ORDDU: It certainly looks better on the inside compared to how it looks on the outside.

Here you go. It was taken near the Indian statue.

lets face it, its an ugly building, but that being said i really do think its temp.

there is no way that would have been approved as a perm location, and as such i think its only there because work will start somewhere that would remove some store space.

                    by the way, awesome photos

ORDDU: I don't get the impression it's a temporary structure. Why would they spend the money on something like that for it to only be temporary? I think it has more to do with the weather. They have monsoons there that require plenty of protection. Ugly as this thing is, I believe they were trying to find a practical way to expand shopping facilities while keeping guests protected from the elements.

Since the new structure is now on the park map, I highly doubt that it is temporary.

i dont know, i get a temp vibe from it.. and not just because it looks like it.

as witches of morva has said, weather plays a factor.

whilst i hope this does not last 10 years, lol, i see it leaving with in 2 years. I believe that more retail space is incoming and this is a stop gap

To the average visitor to the park, this is a great addition. Why? It's an escape from the horrid weather conditions of HK. Those on these boards who have been to HKDL many times will have probably noticed how many many people who enter the shops at the park only do so to take refuge from the weather. It's a great practical addition but a horrid aesthetic one - The building looks plain awful. Why choose that ugly semi-circular shape? Why not stick to the flat panelling like the one given to the Main Street Corner Cafe? I hope the framework of this building is temporary.
