This will probably go about as well as Singapore's casino plans.

i.e: Poorly due to excessive government intervention.

Would the cast members be equipped with canes to swat gum chewers. Seriously, Singapore is way, way too anti-fun for a theme park.
Forget 'Great Moments With Mr. Lincoln,' Samantha Brown is Disney's most sophisticated animatronic.

No way, Singapore is awesome. They have been relaxing there laws more and more over the years, to try and shake that image. BTW I saw the concept art for the new casino and it looks like its going to be really cool.

That actually wouldn't be such a bad idea to have in DLR... maybe the real talks Disney and Singapore are having relate to importing CM's from Singapore to deal with DLR's used gum issue.

I'm not so sure this is going to happen now. The military there is in the process of staging a coup.

                That's Thailand not Singapore.

Anyway, the land provided by Singapore is reportedly even smaller than Disney got in HK.

I surely hope it doesn't materialize because I can see it taking visitors away from HKDL.

Actually, I was thinking why must Disney Parks be built on flat land? Why can't they build on small mountains? HK Ocean Park is built on a mountain area, but with escalators and cable cars it works very well. If Disney could build parks on small mountains then they could build a lot more at Penny's Bay without land reclamation.

I saw their concept art for Marina Bay Sands at Singapore as well...but i really don't like it.

it is like 3 tomb stone sticking up into the air....they said it is like a deck of cards...but actually it looks more like a tomb stone.

i much prefer Steve Wynn to build the Casino/Resort, but he pulled out of race for the 1st Casino License at Singapore.

Yep, he was angry with the Singapore government and told the press that the government was getting in the way and telling him how to build his resort. He got tired of it and walked away.

Could this happen with Disney, too?

You may well be right. I've never been there, so I'm just reiterating the common American perspective of the place as propagated by the media, which is often far from reliable. Hope I didn't offend anyone, I was just having a bit of fun.

I don't know about it being so 'anti - fun' as much as why doesn't Disney focus on PERFECTING what they already have built.

Whoever mentioned the CM cane swatting thing - that was funny!

If Disney's primary interest is in opening new parks else where, rather than expanding HKDL, then HK govt should grant the new land to someone else more focused, maybe someone like Universal Studios or Six Flags.

Maybe Shrek will be better for us than Mickey.

Disney has already sent the model of the park to the Singapore government to look at it and decide.
